1/6 Select Committee

.

Yep, and CNN is playing into Fox’s hand from what I can tell. They ought to not do that.

Sounds like he is as mad as King George III. Nixon was also weird in his private life.

Neil Young used to be Trump’s favourite musician and Young “used to play for me” in Trump’s words. More likely that Trump was in the audience with thousands of others rather than having a private concert! However in recent years Trump said that Young was no longer a good musician: that comment not surprisingly came out after Young started criticizing his presidency. Didn’t stop the Trump campaign from using “Rockin’ in the Free World” inappropriately at his 2020 rallies though!

When I was watching live, she said something to the effect of Trump reached towards the agents scapula. Seemed a little vague so I didn’t mention that part when I was hitting the highlights live. CNN announcers were soon running with comments about Trump trying to strangle the agent. Seemed likely to me that if Trump had gone that far she would have likely heard exactly that.

Seems fairly likely Trump had a tantrum over not being taken to the Capitol but that specific details got embellished via second hand storytelling. Will be interesting to hear what the agents say to the committee.

The agents will choose their words very carefully so as to be seen to be contradicting her but the Committee will undoubtedly probe their statements.

If there is any doubt about exactly what Hutchinson said, this is the 3 minute video:

Note that the correct spelling is “Engel”.

I’ll guess that part of Cuvato’s job is liaison with the Secret Service and Engel is the head of the WH Secret Service unit.

Ok, so she did use the word “lunge”, which exonerates CNN in my mind.

“He used his free hand to lunge towards Bobby Engel” is still incredibly vague imo compared with how it was described by some in the media.

Not to defend anyone and only to critique the news coverage:

(Bolded emphasis mine)

She said she had been told that the ex-President had lunged for his top Secret Service agent when the agent refused to have Trump driven to the Capitol riot scene,

She did not witness this first-hand. It should be noted as such, especially in headlines.

Of course they should not do that.

But would it matter? You have the agent’s account >>> Hutchinson >>> committee testimony (18 months later) >>> CNN version >>> Fox news version of CNN version. You can replace CNN with any main stream media, and as soon as one of them breaks away from the committee testimony, Fox News will focus on that version and add their own distortion. Over the course of an afternoon, you have dozens of media, political commentators on TV, and hundreds of tweets to choose from - you only need a few examples for Fox to distort to advance their story about how the main stream media lying to Americans. This is what they do, all the time.

All the while, what was not the real point of the testimony is all a Fox News viewer knows about it - that CNN lied and you can’t trust any of them.

True

There it is. Trump tried to carjack the presidential limo.

They should have left it at “Donnie Two-Scoops threw a temper-tantrum when he wasn’t taken to the Capitol to watch his mob” without invoking hearsay on specific actions.

Cipollone got a subpoena. Based on Hutchinson’s testimony, this one should be good assuming he is compelled to testify

Fox would have found a way to spin anything that came out.

The problem is liberals like to read sensationalized stories portraying conservatives as crazy people so that’s what CNN prints. Thus the cycle continues.

That was the key item of her testimony. Trump knowingly sought armed insurrection → Trump is guilty of a felony.

CNN is barely better than Fox News. I recommend against getting your news from either.

I generally don’t read either. Fox News does have some decent business coverage in print that comes across my Google feed. Other than that both are generally sensationalized reactions to the news as opposed to actual news.

I’ll add the websites for both cnn and foxnews are much better than the TV personalities and associated spin. Both websites are still lacking, but I do sometimes check out both.
