1/6 Select Committee

I don’t think Trump’s actions in the limo are important in the grand scheme of things. It is undermining the general credibility of Hutchinson that is important.

That’s right… and lets focus on her words, not the medias imagination

As meticulous as the committee has been presenting information and providing corroborating information before it does so, I have a really difficult time believing she had a story, they heard it and loved it because it fit the narrative they’re trying to prove, and they rushed to schedule an impromptu meeting for her to spill the beans under oath with only scant information, if that, to back it up and let her describe the event as she did knowing it’s substantially incorrect.

Possible? Of course, but remember that they casually lobbed out Moscow Ron’s involvement in passing fake electors, and within 72 hours he’d gone from flat denial of any involvement to throwing someone else under the bus (and them directly calling him a liar in response) to admitting he’d had a 2-minute role in the scheme. They’re not divulging everything they know, they’re letting it drip out at opportune times.

Yes, all testimony must be corroborated to be credible.

Dumb question: is Fox Metro News the same thing as Fox News?

In any sane timeline this would seal the deal. Fingers crossed…

I hope the committee is going to revisit the Roger Stone / Oath Keepers connection briefly mentioned today. That’s pretty huge.

The really big news from today (looks at time, um, yesterday), in terms of the criminal investigation, is that trump knew the protestors were armed and tried to get them past security knowing that.

Just to be clear, i think it’s the media, not the committee, that is stretching her comments. First, CNN will have their take, and then fox news will have their take of the CNN take, to compare back to the testimony or another person’s account at a later date and attempt to discredit.

I think it’s that he knew they were armed and tried to lead them to the capitol. Getting them into his event was his own safety at risk. Getting them in with the intent of sending them to the capitol and he is using them to target political opponents.

That is one nutty website. But I think the answer is no. I couldn’t find any about info in a very quick search but here is the contact info. Maybe it is part of Trump’s new news network?

And that “article” is broken up by this “ad” every few hundred words.

Maybe it is mostly that article that is nutty. It looks like a news aggregator but I couldn’t tell where the article was from. Found the about page, though.

I don’t think so. This testimony has to be used to get others to talk. It also gives the media a bunch of leads to go snoop out. This was not testimony to pin Trump down it was testimony to get more people to start talking and also make people nervous about any lies they may have told under oath.

Hmmm, maybe “trump threw temper tantrums” is in that category. “Trump tried to lead armed insurrectionists into the Capitol” is pretty directly relevant to whether he committed a crime or just exercised his right of free speech.

I am not sure anything that has been captured in the hearings is really new or surprising. What it is doing is eliminating the talking points the Trump defenders have been using for the past 18 months on the free speech argument and Trump innocence in leading the mob to the Capitol.

Thanks. Because my general impression is that while Fox News is unprofessional, they’re not quite that unprofessional. They at least try to appear like they’re a real news organization, which that article had no pretense of doing.

Have you actually watched the hearings? I don’t think this is true at all.

I’m going to guess what Mr. President means is that no one is surprised by what they are hearing. Many of us assumed this is exactly what was going on, we’re just getting the details.

You weren’t surprised that Trump wanted to go to the Capitol? That shocked me. I thought he was blowing smoke up their asses to get the crowd riled up and then went home to safely watch the fall out on TV.

what would trump have done once he was at the capitol? like ran into the buildings and led them to kill people? i’m still not sure what he would have done.
