NBC called it for Mamdani about 30 minutes after polls close, and with huge turnout, people were still in line. So presumably not so close.
CNN just called it for Mamdani.
With 91% in, Mamdani is still over 50%, up 9. And Sliwa ran well under his poll numbers.
Listening to the discourse over grocery prices in Canada, my impression is the average person has little understanding of what’s driving food prices or the margins grocery stores are earning.
The map of the results says something about who voted for whom, I think:
(Blue=Mandami, Orange=Cuomo, Red=Silwa (don’t bother looking))
I mean, Sliwa did poorly enough that many people don’t know his name.
I am a bit surprised some of Staten Island voted for Mamdani.
I’m glad I don’t live here, sorry for my sister who does
Sliwa turned out to be a nonfactor.
From the Daily Mail of all freaking publications:
Speaking to press after the Oval Office meeting, the president appeared to have a touch of the Friday feels as he slapped down questions drawing divides between the two, including a reporter who asked Mamdani about referring to the president as a ‘fascist.’
‘You can call me it,’ Trump said in an extraordinary concession, indicating perhaps the extent to which the young democratic socialist impressed him in their discussion.
Mamdani is looking to appoint Ramzi Kassem as Chief Counsel. Kassem is known for defending al Qaeda member Ahmed al-Darbi.
When Mamdani won’t come out against the phrase “globalize the intifada”, now we know why.
Why exactly is this an issue?
Lawyers represent all manner of bad guys. Its a rather basic legal right.
John Adams famously defended the soldiers of the Boston Massacre
Alright, let’s see how the “communist” takeover is coming along:
Seems as bureaucratic as before. Is this new boss the same as the old boss?
Mamdani’s honeymoon is pretty much over at this point.
Lots of politically fraught decisions coming up.
Ooof.
Lawyers appointed public service should be limited to those who have only defended white collar criminals. Pam Bondi would be a good example.
