The New York Young Republican Club is pushing to prevent the NYC mayoral frontrunner from taking the oath of office Jan. 1 under an idea floated this summer.
It cites language in the post-Civil War 14th Amendment to the Constitution barring from office anyone who âengaged in insurrection or rebellionâ or who has âgiven aid or comfort to the enemies.â The group argues that Mamdaniâs own statements calling to resist ICE could violate the prohibition.
NYC isnât much of a republican stronghold. I wouldnât have much fear of that working here.

In the last poll, Mamdaniâs lead has shrunk to just 4 points. In a straight matchup with Cuomo, he loses by 5.
He has now reached out to Jewish leaders in NYC, asking for some photo ops and/or endorsements. They are all turning him down.
