12:01 AM top of the leader board with 725. Trinity Chan has 720 without playing the daily game.
Well, I am again the only one that didn’t get 725. First letter was wrong and then finished it out. TrinityChani now has 112k and over 2m all time.
Confused by when new games become available. I live in eastern time, and I’m currently in a different time zone. I think new puzzles are available at home at midnight. I think that means midnight local time, which would be daylight time when that state is observing daylight time and standard time when local time is standard.
So now in Ariz, I was expecting midnight Ariz time, opened the app then (maybe even slightly before midnight here) and game had apparently been available earlier.
Last night I opened it just after 10 pm here (midnight at home). It was available, and I couldn’t judge how long it had been. Today I tried a few minutes before midnight Ariz time and the new game was available. so maybe it became available at 9:00 Ariz time.
Since it was definitely available before clocks at home said midnight, very strange. Maybe because Ariz doesn’t change time? Don’t know if it’ year round daylight or year round standard. Flying home tomorrow so no further chance to experiment this trip.
The daily puzzle is randomly selected when the first person plays and their device has the new day. Given that there is usually 3 of us playing on a daily basis, it will be when you, me or TrinityChani has our device turn the day.
WTF? I played just after midnight Wed and did pretty well. Only 1 miss I think, certainly not more than 2. I was in eastern time. Around 8am eastern time I checked daily standings. TestSubjectZeta had a perfect 725. Congratulations, your third in a row maybe.
But then the WTF. I flew west, to Pacific time. Late We’d evening, Pacific time (already Thurs, Eastern time, but I was in Pacific),I opened the app, same device that I had used this morning. Tried to play the Daily Game, not expecting to be able to, since it was still Wed local time, and I had played Wed. But I could. Surprised me, but over 24 hors had elapsed, so I guess ok.
And now the WTF. It was exactly the same game I had already played. How could that be??? I didn’t finish it, seemed like cheating and no point. But I checked the daily leaderboard anyway. steve wasn’t there, TestSubject still had 725.
Just saw this. I guess I had the page open, but it had logged me out and wasn’t updating. Time zones are hard. Every app maker encounters weird things. I play a few games where they either freeze up when I travel or even some where I have found out how to get free stuff or turns just by playing with the clock. I can tell you everything is by date on your machine. It fetches the daily puzzle for whatever day your device says it is. If you set your clock back a week, it will give you last week’s puzzle. The leaderboard would be a little weird as it would pull anybody’s score from that date where that was the last time they played as the database does not keep history of people’s daily scores, but overwrite’s the last time they played with the current day’s score.
Interesting. My shows the scores for you and I only once today. Might have been a glitch connecting t the database. I suspect if you close down the app and reopen it, it will probably fix itself.
Yes, now only once
Should I be able to play Word of the Ring on my iMac (perhaps through a browser), or only on my iPad or iPhone? I know I can play on iPad and iPhone, though with different ids on them.
You can play on your Mac, but it has to be a model with one of the M chips. I have an older Mac with the intel chip and I cannot except through a simulator. Unfortunately, if you start on your Mac, it will start your points count and badges over. I do not collect any personal info on anyone or have a password protected sign on so no way to tie a different device to a particular user. If you do want to play on your Mac and have a new enough machine, chatgpt will give instructions on how to do so.
For now I will stick to the iPad, but I may be abandoning it completely before long. My iMac (a Mac mini actually) does have an M1 chip.
