Women's Soccer

Geez, USWNT, pass it to your teammates!!
This is what happens when opposing teams knows how to play.

No Rapinoe, no Thompson.

As a neutral observer, I found it to be an exciting match: best I have watched so far.

Yes, this was the best game so far this tournament.

Well that status didn’t last long…

Nigeria could well win this Group and either Australia or Canada not survive the Group Stage.

I’d fancy Canada and Nigeria to go through. I believe Australia would need to win against Canada. Hopefully Sam Kerr will be back from injury.

I am not sure about Australia. The Australian defence really looked weak. All three Nigerian goals were because of undecisive defending. It’s like they trained with teams that didn’t attack them much.

On a side note, it’s still awkward for me when the ladies celebrate by taking their t-shirts off.

I am not sure about Australia as they struggled in their win against Ireland. Canada dominated Nigeria in their match and missed a PK that could have won it.

Australia likely needs a win against Canada so incredible pressure, especially in front of a sellout crowd of Australian supporters. Canada would qualify with a win or tie so a bit less pressure and they have a core of experienced players who have played in big games. Unless the Canadians have an off-day, Australia is in trouble.

Argentina comeback was exciting although RSA win would have been cool. When they went up 2-0 it looked like they would hold on.

Sam Kerr has declared herself available for the Canada game. At one stage it didn’t look like she would play at all. It will be interesting to see how close she is to full fitness. If she is fully fit the game could go either way.

Need more subs IMO, as we have players who are itching to play, and are still trying to impress the coach for later stages.

Said temperature at SWE v ITA is 45F!!

Australia gets a psychological lift from Kerr playing, regardless of her fitness level. In any event, it will be an interesting day of matches.

Wow, Colombia!

Maybe the best game so far. Thanks for the recommendation.

Glad I didn’t get up early to watch my Canucks crash and burn. Time to start cheering for the Lionesses.

After she retires, they should get Sam Kerr at future World cups to sit on the bench as an inspiration.

Dilemma: stay up until 2AM watching, or get up early and watch before work? Or both?
Leaning toward #2, but will depend on how I feel at 11PM or so.

Aren’t you west coast? Game starts at 3am ET, so you would need to be awake at midnight.
