Women's Soccer

Horan sorry for stating true stuff out loud:

So full user name is dr_t_and_uswnt_non-fan?

I don’t know where you get this. When she first said it 15 days ago, I said,

I’m a big fan of uswnt. The other uswnt fans? eh. The price of tickets to their matches? no.

Oh, so you are self-deprecating your soccer knowledge.

I only know what Julie Foudy tells me!

I think it’s dr_t_and_uswnt_otherfans(well, just the dumb ones)_non-fan

Fishel out, Morgan in.

Matches are on ESPN+, it seems, so, too bad, everyone without ESPN+.

Somewhat bizarre that the USWNT match starting shortly is only carried in Spanish for me, via either ESPN+ streaming or ESPN deportes

Thankfully I’ve seen enough of this in 19 minutes

WSL (England) doing stuff for its women:

The US and Mexico are apparently working on a potential joint bid for the 2027 Women’s World Cup

Ugh, USWNT!
Alright, ladies, time to get mad.
Too bad this tournament is not important enough for regular TV.

Also, it appears that the USWNT will no longer be able to play Central American teams in SoCal, as the crowd was reportedly pro-MEX.

Hope Atlanta gets some matches. The 2015 Women’s World Cup in Vancouver was a blast. Great fun.

Meanwhile, Spain has kept up their misogyny, cuz thousands of years of culture are hard to change.

This is mainly in response to the changing of the Nations League semi-final from one stadium to another one. It was changed 20 days ago, cuz Cadiz couldn’t get their league match moved to Monday. So, wondering why that match was scheduled as a home match this week when the W Nations League Semi match location was already scheduled there. (Need to check when this location was chosen. Guessing not before last June when the La Liga schedule was released?)
Seems that the Nations League semis and finals locations are determined by the “home team” in the tournament. I.e., not a neutral site because I guess it is not that important, cuz girls. So, on December 11 the “home teams” were chosen and their Federations had to pick stadiums for the matches. So, Why T F was Cadiz chosen on the condition that the match on Sunday could hope to be changed to Monday? Federation dropped the ball, cuz girls don’t matter.

Some good news for a change: 13-year-old scores goal in preseason NWSL match:

She’s also on the U15 USWNT. Just sign her up! Stop her risking injuries playing for free (or worse, paying to play, though I’m guessing the other players’ parents on her club team compensate her fees).
She has an NIL with Nike, but that’s only c

Real problem with USWNT?

Here’s hoping that some new blood will shake this team up creatively. We have several players off to injury, I hope they’ll be back for the Olympics.

US v CAN, on 3/6, on ESPN+.

Sorry to have to miss that match as it conflicts with a panel discussion I am participating in for local university students interested in becoming actuaries.

Neither Canada nor the USA team seem to be playing at a very high level recently. Since the match is in the USA that is a huge advantage for the American women. I recently went to a Canada-Australia friendly here and 50000+ Canadian fans certainly buoyed the local team. Since I expect the USA to win my time may turn out to have been better spent with the students.

Arsenal W have more tickets sold than 10 of the EPL teams.

First: some of those Men’s stadia, like Luton’s and Fulham’s, are a bit smaller.
EDIT: NINE EPL Stadia are smaller than Arsenal W’s 35000 attendance average, so not sure what they are trying to pull over readers’ eyes. Only one, Everton, has a higher capacity and not exceeding ARS W.
Second: what is the price of the tix? I mean, Barca W was giving away tix so it could “break an attendance record” at Camp Nou, but that doesn’t seem cricket.
Third: I think the EPL and WSL need to work on their schedules together so that more W matches can be played in the larger M stadia, if more people want to go to the W matches but can’t cuz of 4500 capacity. Not sure if Sat/Sun matches can be played back-to-back due to field abuse.

USWNT over CAN on PK’s.
At least they don’t have to face MEX again, as they lost to Brazil.

Rained pretty badly during the match, so should it have been postponed perhaps until today? Still three days until Sunday Final.
