As an aside, maybe because I am Canadian, I did not know that “protected species” had racial overtones. I only was aware of it in the context of a league protecting its valuable players, such as the NHL and Wayne Gretzky.
Yeah, I’m American, and I never considered “protected species” to be racist. It actually makes sense in terms of a star player getting the calls. People need to stop apologizing for every little (no)thing and save it for real stuff.
True. It does impose an unfair burden on people to have to always try to predict which word or phrase (or expression, like with that little kid Chiefs fan that was ruthlessly bullied by that sports “journalist” a while back) Race Baiter Inc. will manufacture a thing out of next.
