Bad news: Looks like I’m spending the day remembering what the first case of COVID felt like (albeit with slightly less fatigue, but sorer arms…writing this post is proving to have been a bad idea), and wondering why the f**k I voluntarily did this, I think this might be my worst-ever day-after-vaccine experience, at least in my adult life. This is worse than the second dose of Shingrix.
Admittedly, I’ve been encouraged not to do COVID and flu together because I have “excellent immune system response” to vaccines. But going in, one really bad weekend, seemed like a better option than two still-bad weekends.
Flu: yup, I’ve just been putting it off til after all the wedding stuff finished. Now I can get that any time. (Every year there’s a 50/50 chance I’ll be fine or bleah for a day or so.)
Covid: Undecided, leaning probably not. I’ll see what my brother thinks/does. (old people doctor + immune compromised… I deferred to his expertise on such things during the pandemic)
Got both covid and flu shots yesterday at 3pm.
Mild soreness at injection site on the covid side. Flu side is fine. Slept in until 10am, otherwise feeling good.
Weaselette having a bit more issues like nausea and more arm pain.
Was at the doctor’s anyway today to have something checked (where doctor concluded nothing worth treating), so I got a flu shot. About 8 hours ago now, and zero reaction so far.
Got the flu shot yesterday. Have that “I hope I’m not getting sick” kind of pre-feeling-bad-ness, but I already had that feeling a little bit. So, either I’ll be fine, or I won’t be. It’s at least 4-5 years in a row now that I was fine after it.
I got both the new COVID Moderna and flu vaccinations yesterday.
For a change, I had them administered in different arms to better track the respective pain trajectories. Flu arm had no pain less than 24 hours later: COVID arm still hurts when I move it. No other side effects.
Scheduled for my second shingles shot on Tuesday which I am dreading after the nasty experience with the first shot two months ago.
