Will you get the vaccine as soon as available to you?

I will not spend time with people who will not listen to reason. Period.

Luckily, no one in my immediate family falls into that bucket. But if my mother were a virulent anti-vaxxer and wouldn’t listen to my advice, that’d be it for me.

Perhaps it says something for how I limit who I am willing to be friends with, that I haven’t had to deal with this in my personal life.

My grandfather died of COVID. People then spread it at his funeral, as everyone was unmasked (last year, pre-vaccine). This is not a ‘ok, we disagree on the level of proper role of taxation’ disagreement. People are living and dying based on these ‘beliefs’.

things I have dropped family members over was crippling heroin addition that turned a human into a pile of garbage. Some one that will steal and swindle anyone to get 20 bucks to get their next hit. Some one that actually OD 2x in 1 day in 2 different states. And I tried to help them for 10 years before I gave up on them, and I still hate myself for not doing more.

So a few months of someone saying dumb things, i can handle.

“Saying dumb things” <> “Spreading a deadly virus around because you don’t believe in it.”

thats quite a statement.

I hosted Thanksgiving the year Trump won the presidential election. And I took advantage of being host to impose a “no politics at the dinner table this year” rule. One of my brothers despises the Clintons, and was likely to cackle. Other people felt distressed about Trump as president. I love all these people, and wanted to enjoy my family.

A few people were grumpy about the rule, but everyone agreed to follow it.

Fortunately, I don’t have any anti-vaxxers in my immediate family. My DIL has an uncle who is basically too stubborn to get vaccinated. But I’ve only met him once, at the wedding, and there are no events coming up that would lead us to get together. So that’s a problem for her to navigate, but not for me.

Wasn’t planning on booster but my sister said they were opening a dose today where some was going to go to waste so the 4 of us went down and got boosters. Now I have a sore arm.

100%. My mom tried the ‘I don’t see a reason for me to get the vaccine line.’ My immediate response was ‘Here’s a reason, you’ll never see your daughter or grandkids again.’ She got a it a few weeks later.

Just had another relative die of COVID. He was verbally, physically, and financially abusive though. Not too upset. Didn’t want him dead, but wanted him to not be an abuser, so… Meh.

(was not vaccinated, for no reason except being stubborn)

I’m sorry for those who will miss him. :frowning:

Thanks. They’re pretty certain his unvaccinated son gave it to him. So yeah, that’ll be interesting for them. He was an estranged step-relative though and our family was pretty furious with him risking the life of our elderly grandmother in many situations. Kind of a soup of emotion at the moment, feels bad to feel relief that somebody is gone.

how old was he?

also, i assume he didn’t give it to your grandmother, so meh on feeling relief. if only he died then that’s a good thing.

At least 70, maybe pushing 80, no other conditions to my knowledge but given that the family hated him I might not be aware of that.

Grandmother thankfully kicked him out a few months prior. (So maybe I’m exaggerating calling him a relative, but they were common-law married, had been together nearly a decade.)

Otherwise she’d probably be dead, she has all the co-morbidities.

It’s official we got a new priest a couple of weeks ago!!!

Getting a booster in a few days.

Two hours past booster, slightly achey in shoulders and back

Assuming psychosomatic

my arm started hurting a lot just a few hours after the booster. it wasn’t psychosomatic.

My arm started hurting a couple of hours after each dose of Pfizer. My arm never really hurt after my J&J booster (except right at first, briefly) but the next day every muscle in my body ached.

I’m pretty sure neither reaction was psychosomatic.

oh for J&J my arm didn’t hurt until the next day. for the moderna booster, it was the same day a couple hours later.

17 hours in - feel perfectly normal

hydrated heavily, took advil just after shot and before bed
