Will you get the vaccine as soon as available to you?

Yes, it is available 12+, but I thought the 16+ number was what we were tracking and trying to hit 70% by 7/1

FWIW, 12+ is at 64.4% with data through 6/19

Yes, it has been 16+ % that we have been monitoring for the past 1.5 months.

Guessing Mr Contact means the way his state tracks % vaccinated (i.e. the denominator used)

I think my state now reports the % with at least one dose and those fully vaccinated as a % of those age 12 years and older. Actually looking at it again, they also give those % of the entire population as well.

Right now for 12+ it is 60.5% at least one dose and 51.9% fully vaccinated. While as a % of the entire population it is 48.9% with at least one dose and 42% fully vaccinated.

And the state would never move those goalposts on you, would they?

No, unlike some people, the state has been completely consistent, honest and straightforward about its Covid19 stance.

Ah. My state reports vaccinations in total daily, and by age band weekly, so i was confused. From the total you can calculate either % total or %12+

And it reports first doses, second doses, and j&j doses daily. Although i agree that the most interesting numbers are 1+ and fully.

Keep it civil.

He was probably just comparing his fortunate situation to states like mine, where the governor has done nothing but move goalposts since March 2020.

What exactly was the purpose of this reply?

It clearly was not meant to be civil or add anything constructive in response to my post.

Eight hours prior to your reply, I had already answered my own question by quoting Greenman’s original post, which made it clear that the “goal” (which is just a goal at this point, with nothing tied to it) was ALWAYS 70% 16+ vaccinated.

Please don’t hide behind some fake veneer of civility while make snide, disingenuous comments that derail from the conversation actually taking place.

If you want to make some direct complaint about how your governor has “trampled” on your supposed rights, then do that.

But please try to keep it civil, and not the crap that you pulled here.

Whiskey, Marcie criticized your government, not you. It’s fair for you to defend your state, and to ask Marcie to be direct if she wants to complain about government actions. It’s not cool to attack Marcie.

If you think Marcie is trying to derail a conversation about vaccination rates, please report her posts, don’t get nasty towards her.

My state hasn’t even bothered to set goal posts. We just get gubernatorial decrees from time to time. Fortunately, we’ve had pretty good vaccination rates. Also, my state publishes excellent data about both covid and the vaccine uptake.

Science is f’n amazing!

https://www.nytimes.com/2021/06/28/health/coronavirus-vaccines-immunity.html

The vaccines made by Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna set off a persistent immune reaction in the body that may protect against the coronavirus for years, scientists reported on Monday.

The findings add to growing evidence that most people immunized with the mRNA vaccines may not need boosters, so long as the virus and its variants do not evolve much beyond their current forms — which is not guaranteed. People who recovered from Covid-19 before being vaccinated may not need boosters even if the virus does make a significant transformation.

The study did not consider the coronavirus vaccine made by Johnson & Johnson, but Dr. Ellebedy said he expected the immune response to be less durable than that produced by mRNA vaccines

The results suggest that a vast majority of vaccinated people will be protected over the long term — at least, against the existing coronavirus variants. But older adults, people with weak immune systems and those who take drugs that suppress immunity may need boosters; people who survived Covid-19 and were later immunized may never need them at all..

Hey @Actuary321, the article in my post above talks about vax after infection.

This is what I like to hear

I have decided that I will give blood one more time and then go get vaccinated. Just to give one more time to check on antibodies.

My Red Cross stopped checking for antibodies last week. Might want to check on that.

Also my result indicated I had antibodies from a vaccine and likely not from exposure. They had a separate test for that. So you could still get results even if vaccinated, it seems.

My blood center has a notice on their website that they’re stopping antibody testing effective 7/1 (I have a 6/30 appointment, but not for this reason, it was just the 8 week mark from my last).

You might check to see whether your center has updated policies as well.
