J&J was a little less effective at preventing people from getting a mild illness, but it was very effective at keeping people out of the hospital and preventing deaths. And it’s the only major vaccine with double blinded test data showing it protects against the South African variant. (There are some test tube studies that suggest the Pfizer and Moderna vaccine ought to be moderately effective, but that’s not the same as live-people data.)
We’ll all probably want a booster in a year against the newer variants, but i think you’re fine for now.
I’m curious how Death feels. Does he feel sad when he comes to take someone to the next life? Does this matter based on circumstance? Or does he feel satisfied in showing up and doing his job. Or nothing at all? Maybe his feelings are based on how the person lived their life. He could be miserable, happy, or indifferent. Most people probably feel like Death at some point, and Tiffany may be feeling like him right now.
What would work best is saying that once we reach xx% vaccinated, we will open up everything. xx might be 70% or 80%. This might help get some on the fence in.
The problem is a bunch of complete fucking selfish morons refusing to get vaccinated and take any precaution, which is only going to cause this virus to stay around and kill substantially more people than it should.
I would think that was obvious. But, you never know.
The problem is that we will continue to have high levels of coronavirus running around and mutating into potentially nastier forms because too many places won’t reach herd immunity, due to low levels of vaccination and poor natural immunity from the virus.
Hmmm, the post I was replying to seemed to imply the problem was that we just haven’t taken freedoms away enough & we need to keep up the beatings until morale improves.
Naw, it’s not about beatings. The post you were replying to sad that unfortunately a lot of the places where people aren’t getting vaccinated aren’t doing anything else to keep their people safe.
