Will you get the vaccine as soon as available to you?

I am not sure how accurate this survey can be at the county level. That would take lots of calls. In AL, the highest hesitancy values from this report correspond to areas that have the highest per capita vaccine recipients. So these people might be hesitant (one example 35% H + SH), but they are getting the vaccine (above 40%). I imagine they are trying to use underlying characteristics to map hesitancy. ALDPH has made a strong outreach to the Black communities, especially in small poor counties, and overall uptake Black vs White is currently 24.4% vs 25%.

ETA Here is info from CDC
The above map shows estimates of COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy rates using data from the U.S. Census Bureau’s Household Pulse Survey (HPS). We estimate hesitancy rates in two steps. First, we estimate hesitancy rates at the state level using the HPS for the collection period March 3, 2021 – March 15, 2021, which is referred to as Week 26. Then, we utilize the estimated values to predict hesitancy rates in more granular areas using the Census Bureau’s 2019 American Community Survey (ACS) 1-year Public Use Microdata Sample (PUMS). To create county-level estimates, we used a PUMA-to-county crosswalk from the Missouri Census Data Center. PUMAs spanning multiple counties had their estimates apportioned across those counties based on overall 2010 Census populations.

18%/9% here and that’s one of the lower percentages in the city.

That would explain why the states stand out so clearly. I didn’t expect that, and i bet it’s an artifact of the methodology.

10%/5% in Hennepin County (current local)
13%/6% in my home county in Western Washington (Mason)

Yeah I doubt its the most rigorous survey, but it’s probably not “too” far off of reality. And is somewhat interesting none the less.

8%/3%.

I have a backup appointment a week from tomorrow at Rite Aid in Bellingham. It is the Pfizer shot, I believe

I missed the email to reschedule my kid’s J&J shot that was supposed to happen today, but found an opening for her for Pfizer for tomorrow and May 8th.

I really like that Walgreens (here, don’t know about everywhere) is scheduling both shots at the same time so you can pick the best time (for you) for both days. I’m assuming that there must be a lot of vaccine hesitancy around me (one of my kids is dumb this way, believes just about every conspiracy theory out there, maybe even flat earth…) since there were easily 100 appointments just at Walgreens locations near me for tomorrow. Didn’t look at other locations since most I saw were Moderna (and I didn’t want to wait four weeks instead of Pfizer’s three), and the Walgreens I scheduled at is only 2 miles away.

My oldest kid (who had COVID in January) got their first Pfizer shot today, so of our family, it’s only the one gullible kid who won’t be fully vaccinated by the second week of May. As soon as our ridiculous fostering of kittens is over, I’m heading to the beach. I might even take the family with me :stuck_out_tongue:

Dammit, Da- Moderna!!!

Good luck.

Got my first shot this morning. My county hid a statement on their website saying 16+ was eligible on 4/10, and not many people noticed (including me, a friend pointed it out to me). I was able to schedule before the others in my county knew. The whole state went 16+ yesterday, and I hear people looking now need to book two weeks out.

there’s a location on staten island right now that has an open to all, no appointment required covid vaccine event today. i wonder if i can double dip. i’m not sold on this J&J being enough…

You can double dip, we know someone who did and is looking for the 3rd, but you shouldn’t really double dip.

:astonished: really??? which 2 did they get? like they got 2 doses of one and then went for one of the others?

follow-up question, did they wind up with bad side effects from said double dipping?

Dude, don’t double up. If a booster becomes available, get it. Until then, relax, breath. You’re fine.

Except for that one in a million death clot.

Go full Thanos and get Moderna, Pfizer, J&J, AZ, and Sinovac.

No love for Sputnik or Covaxin or any of the others?

Which two?

J&J is a different type of vaccine than Pfizer & Moderna, which are more similar.

I’m not sure how the type of vaccine affects the safety of doubling up though.
