Sanford Winery is undoubtedly lovely and the type of outing my wife and I enjoy very much. However our main trip will probably be outside the familiar environs of the US and Canada.
Also would never contemplate even a scaled down version of this.
My suggestion would likely go contrary to the āextravagantā travel plans others have proposed . . . itās far more sentimental . . .
Perhaps make plan around visiting the city/area where the two of you first lived after getting married.
Interesting counter advice. I have great respect for the House Atreides so will probably do that some time in 2025: the city involved is Toronto.
That would be in addition to another adventure.
A friend just returned from an extended time on the Camino. I didnāt get them impression from him that everyone was on a spiritual journey, but i can ask specifically whether an areligious person would find the religious aspect overwhelming. If there are specific things your wife finds objectionable you can pm me to discuss so i can tailor inquiries if you are interested.
So much traffic on both sides of the border, but we had a nice time. The Richmond Night Market was quite the experience. We shouldāve gone there hungrier, because there were several other foods weād like to have tried but were just too full. Iād like to go back and rent bikes to ride around Stanley Park, especially since ebikes are plentiful (my spouse has a degenerative neuromuscular disease). We went to the aquarium and walked around a Stanley Park a bit. We did drive to Steveston on the way home, but my son was tired, so we just walked a few blocks and got a snack at the farmerās market before heading home.
The camino is not as āreligiousā as it used to be. You can also make it as long (or as short) as you want it to be (doing the whole 3 month journey is very rare these days). The nice part of the camino is when you get to Santiago de Compostela and you see Cathedral there (with the swinging Botafumeiro) and stay at the Parador de los Reyes Catolicos (probably the most beautiful parador out there).
Took my wife there when we got married (visiting some family at the time in the area) and she did like the architecture and food. Its definitely worth a trip but just not sure of the wow factor given its a special occasion.
Not sure if you have done an Iceland trip, but its also one worth considering.
Ring Road Trip with lots of nature and hiking possibilities.
That one will also have a huge wow factor but you will have to drive (unless you use a tour but then you will be more limited and it will get a lot more expensive).
My two oldest kids both spent some time in Iceland and loved it. We will probably do it some day as a break on an Icelandair trip to Europe rather than as a standalone destination.
We had a wonderful time doing a Brazil road trip (mostly around Minas Gerais State) over October half-term break so have decided to plan for another few trips inside Brazil.
Lencois Marenhenses is top of my list (so unique) as we can take the little one with us for a week long stay during July school break.
You can actually take a dip in those pools and have lunch provided by the hotel as well at the edge of the pool.
I havenāt been to Brazil yet but weāre heading to Campo Grande (in the southwest) for a wedding next April.
I have no plans until spring 2025: Victoria, BC.
Was just there! Beautiful.
Vegas, 1st weekend of December. One of the bonus kids is going out there for a conference, and after the first couple of days of this week at work I think Iāve earned it.
Gonna check out Dodge City, KS next month . . .
Have decided to do a short 3-day trip to Brussels in January via the Eurostar so the little one can see the Atomium and we can all enjoy some waffles and good beer
Start them young.
Iāve got miles to get to Europe that expire next year so I need to figure out where to go. First world problemsā¦
I drove thru there a few years ago. Never seen so many cows in one place.
trying to make a trip to providence RI for new years eve. fingers crossed it will happen!
