What's for Lunch?

Leftover braised short ribs, a couple sheets of matzo.

If you are buying gluten free matzo for the flavor, and not to avoid gluten, try one of the Israeli brands next year. (I like Aviv.) They taste a lot more like toasted wheat, and a lot less like cardboard, than the US brands.

put a can opener (or a strong knife) under lip of the jar and lever away. When you hear the air it should open easily

We like GF matzo no matter where we buy it, since it gets its flavour from potato starch so it’s almost like potato chips. We’ll be on the lookout for an Israeli brand if our supermarket carries it. We also have the regular kind so that we can properly bless it.

My wife is better at the trick than I am. We stopped buying Talenti gelato because the lids are too much of a headache.

Does it count as matzo ritually? I know a guy whose kids are allergic to wheat, and he buys oat matzo, which he says tastes horrible.

Sweet and sour chicken.

A jimmy John’s unwich.

Had my first Jimmy John’s a week or so ago. Not bad, reminded me of the original Blimpie with the oil & vinegar dressing. What is an Unwich? A chef salad?

Looks like a no bread sandwich.

My MIL orders her burgers at In-n-Out “protein” style, which is where they wrap the whole thing in lettuce instead of putting in on a hamburger bun.

This sounds like Jimmy John’s version of that.

It doesn’t count as ritual - for that we have an ancient grains matzo. Used it for “pizza” last night and it tasted pretty good. It’s made from spelt, just not sure if it’s spelt with an “o” or an “ah” at the end of the word.

This is correct.

Not lunch, but dinner. Some sort of grilled salad and fancy chicken thighs.
Since my son’s gf has moved in, the two of them make restaurant quality suppers for us about three times a week. We’re talking square plates and EVERYTHING. fancy.
My spouse is super happy because they make supper every night except some sundays when I do it. I like it because it like different food, and the two of them are cooking stuff that’s radically different than what my spouse would normally make.
Looking forward to both the meal, and the opportunity to object to square plates.

We used plain wheat matzo last night for pizza, and it was delicious. :face_savoring_food: I always enjoy matzo pizza night.

Today 2 bologna sandwiches

Today we’re getting our seniors ready for graduation in a few weeks, so our supervisor got us Chipotle. That new al pastor chicken is on point. :plate_with_cutlery:

With my sense of smell back (see the Happy Thoughts thread), I opted for Thai food. That hit the spot.
