Verdict: just like the ramen restaurants. I had to source the mirin and dark soy sauce online since our local Asian supermarket shuttered last year, but I should have plenty for many batches to come.
6.5 minutes had the yolks still very runny, I might try 7 minutes next time to make them more jammy, but still tasty and delightful all the same. Plus the ramen broth cooks them up a bit more.
Update: our server said there was ‘an accident’ in the kitchen. After 35-40 minutes they brought my entree, and chicken parm for my wife who ordered spaghetti, the server said it was what was available quickly.
Then they brought the spaghetti five minutes later. Plus more to take home. Apologized profusely, comped the whole meal. So now we have OG for days.
I went to lunch at a Lazy Dog for the retirement of a co-worker. I’d never been to one before and it was a bit better than I’d expected. I had loco moco fried rice.
There’s a restaurant in my neighborhood that serves Pakistani street food. They have a delicious appetizer there called gappa chaat and it’s a big gooey mess of delicious.
As much as I dislike mayo as a condiment, frying a grilled cheese is an acceptable use. Inside might be a step too far for me though. Maybe w/gruyere sourdough combo.
I spent all morning doing yard work. Biked over the river to a local spot. I asked for a water, a beer, and a menu, I only got the beer. About 35-40 minutes later I’m done with the beer and the waitress is AWOL. She shows up as I’m grabbing my bike helmet and asks me ‘no food?’ Yeah, I never got a menu or the water, I’m good.
Bike over to a pizza place, order a slice and a beer, get the beer, an hour later, no slice. I go to the register and tell them I’m paying, IDGAF about paying for the slice I never got. She apologizes and says if I can wait seven minutes she’ll fix it. That took 20 minutes, I did get breadsticks and a cookie and they comped the whole meal, but jeez.
