We tend to not have many kids stop by. But I’m always afraid that I might run out. This year I have 30 full size candy bars, a basket of toys, and a few mini milky way bars.
Last year, we had two or three doorbells…so, perhaps a dozen kids total. This year I’m going Scrooge on the bit, drawing the shades, and not answering the door. Bah humbug. My dogs don’t cooperate, either and are a total pita whenever anything “new” enters their circle of influence. Daughter has suggested she might put out a self serve bowl.
Hip_tiger_wife bought a bag of cheap toys. She divided them into 5 numbered bags. Kids at our church trunk-or-treat rolled a die to decide which bag they could pick a toy from. (Rolled 6 = pick one) The kids all seemed quite pleased.
I am ready for ~144 kids w full size stuff. So far only 12-15. Today is the coldest day we have had by like 10-20 degrees and it snowed half the day. I am thinking id rather fun size stuff for the level of leftovers i expect.
In the nearly 40 years we’ve been in this house, we have averaged less than 1 visitor per year with a mode of 0. Most was probably 5 one year. So we just buy a small bag of stuff we like just in case and eat that the next week.
