What did you do this weekend?

Spent Friday with our 2 year old English granddaughter (various birthday celebrations).

On Saturday, had lunch at the historic Dove Pub in Hammersmith followed by a walk along the Thames to Craven Cottage stadium for Premier League match.

On Sunday, birthday bash for our granddaughter with 20 of her English family members.

Birthday bash for our granddaughter. It’s our first. On my son in law’s side, she’s the 11th…and they’re all in the pool having a blast.

Beautiful weather today. Hot fall day.

Had dinner last night with my son’s new gf. She’s 6ft and elegant looking. And smart. And can keep a conversation going. Had a great dinner. My son was bartending, and all the wait staff are older so it was a lot of fun, wait staff kidding around etc.

And that whole pumpkin fiasco all day Saturday.

We’ve been here in blue Chicago since Tuesday taking care of our two granddaughters. Our daughter and son-in-law went to Vancouver to celebrate S-I-L 's 40th birthday. We’ve been busy spoiling the grandkids. Now the parents will have to do some damage control when they come back. Bwahahaha…

We go back tomorrow to “political ads hell”!

sunday: got Jets tickets for son in law’s birthday. ugly day, ugly game, but we had a good time. all day as i was out from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Even longer for him, but he took a bus down.

Friday night just stayed home, watched the LAD.
Refereed several soccer matches on Saturday morning (fun!), then watched simultaneous quadrupleheader college football (meh).
Saturday night went to a local poker room while doing my Saturday crossword in pen. That always gets people to thinking. All the playing slowed me down. Finished in 3.5 hours. Came home, watched the USMNT.
Today, lazy Sunday, gonna see if I can watch the LAD while in my hot tub. Not sure if the TV mount can swing that far.

Go see my quilts thread to see.

Do you have a mirror?

We visited Inhotim Contemporary Art Museum near Belo Horizonte (Brazil)

Very beautiful place. Have to admit it that it is an impressive installation. We have nothing like this in Europe done on this scale.

Just stayed home.

awesome rescheduled (from me being sick before) anniversary weekend away with Jaspess in Cincinnati, preceded by dinner at the Jeff Ruby’s in Columbus :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: such an awesome weekend … we basically ate and shopped our way through town all weekend

There are Jeff Ruby’s locations in Cincinnati too! You’ll often see visiting NFL & MLB players at The Precinct in … I guess that’s considered Hyde Park. There’s several other Jeff Ruby restaurants around town too (Carlo & Johnny in Montgomery and I think at least one other) albeit with fewer celebrity sightings than The Precinct.

But the Bengals were in New Jersey and the Reds season is over so you might not have missed any celebs.

Glad you had a fun weekend.

Precinct is on tap for 2nd anniversary dinner  we realized while planning this weekend that it takes moooonths to get a reservation at a decent dinner time on a weekend

That’s true. My mom sometimes takes me when I visit, but we would typically go during the week.

One of my favorite places to take visitors to Cincinnati is the Montgomery Inn Boathouse. Great ribs, great views of the river and it’s right by Bicentennial Commons which is a really nice park to walk around. You can see the statue of Cincinnatus, for whom my fair hometown is named, a rare statue of a clean-shaven Abraham Lincoln, and the famous flying pigs for whom the city’s marathon is named.

Still the weekend here. Nice slow.day, got the boat cleaned out and organized, my tackle is almost back inorder. Then im gonna make a coffee and restring some fishing reels. Im taking 12 students fishing next weekend so i need enough gear in order to handle all that.

Predicting posts to the annoyed thoughts next weekend after a dozen students have been raping and pillaging my rods and reels, tackle box, and boat lol.

We went to the original location for Saturday night dinner, since it’s just down the street from Aglamesis Bros

I’ve been disappointed by the original location the last few times I went. That’s where my family always wants to go because it’s closer to where everyone lives, but I just like the Boathouse better. :woman_shrugging:

The whole place has gone a bit downhill since their heyday in the 90s… there was something charming about eating ribs on a table set with white linen tablecloths and stemware and they’d come around and tie a bib on you and dinner included a salad and artisan bread. Pictures of Bob Hope everywhere (he used to have Montgomery Inn fly in ribs to his home in California).

Now no salad, no white linen, no stemware, the bread isn’t the same… I don’t even think they do the bibs. And it’s just not quite as good as it used to be. It’s still good, but not AS good.

But the Boathouse has declined at a slower rate than the original location IMO.
