Went to my parents’ community band’s concert Saturday night, brought the kids, then went out to a bar with my siblings and a cousin who is in town, after taking the kids home. Yesterday I took foster son to his former foster mom’s house to hang out with some old friends, and I quilted the rest of the day.
Soccer at the Rose Bowl on Friday. Called it a date night with my wife.
Some construction in the back yard on Saturday, so we went to Los Olivos for wine tasting and Buellton for beer tasting.
Linner (2PM lunch/dinner) plans on Sunday, but went early for beer-tasting down the street from the Linner place.
Shit, that is a lot of alcohol-days.
I start my weekends early
Wednesday: Company Picnic followed by the Met game
Thursday: Played in a golf outing - pouring rain - followed by a dinner - was there 12 hours
Friday: actually worked. Had dinner at the beach and watched an Elvis impersonator perform
Saturday: Beach followed by a Met game
Sunday: Wife had a brunch, so I watched Guardians of the Galaxy, finished a book, smoked a cigar - then went to beach, where we grilled dinner.
Got a tattoo
Brewed a beer for a local disc golf tournament in September (Mays Mill - Kolsch w/ lime and sea salt)
Cut lawn - Troy-Bilt Zero Turn Lawn tractor arrived on Friday!!! It is sa-weeet!
Got high on gummies if you missed that thread.
Saturday was nice, went to an architectural salvage store about an hour away. Didn’t know it existed, my wife found it and it’s a neat place. Will be a good resource as we continue the remodel here, they’ve got a pretty extensive inventory and I wish we’d found them sooner. Stopped for Thai food on the way home.
Sunday was cleaning day. I swept two floors, mopped one, cleaned a ton of things in the kitchen and dusted a bit. Then got busy for about four hours trying to go through all of the crap we have in various closets in the attic. Still a lot of work to do but we found some things we’d been looking for, and I managed to convince my wife that we could even get rid of some of the things we don’t use. She has finally agreed that the three of us don’t really need to own more than a dozen suitcases.
Friday night - dinner/evening with family who have a kiddo Mini Me’s age
Saturday morning - swimming lesson with Mini Me, grocery shopping
Saturday evening - dinner/evening with a BFF who has a kiddo Mini Me’s age
Sunday morning - church
Sunday afternoon - makeup swimming lesson with Mini Me
Sunday evening - relaxing at home
I went back home on the weekend.it was a two-fer, all the women in the family were here for a baby shower. And my bil does firewood for a living but is waiting on a hip replacement. So, I went down for a few days to help him get caught up. I blocked up about 15 cords of wood. Noice, I love cutting wood, I’d do it for a living if it was feasible.
My bil has a hobby farm and raises animals, so I came home with about 100 lbs of meat lol. 5 large chickens, all manner of steaks and pork chops.
Did some touring the back roads and dropped in on some old friends I haven’t seen in decades. One of them is dying from skin cancer so I guess good that I got to see him? Probably the last time I’ll see him.
Whale watching - we got lucky as there were 15-20 humpback whales when an average trip would get 2-5. Lots of open mouth feeding and a few calves jumping out of the water. Really cool when one of them was beamed up by the Enterprise crew. (Not sure if that really happened - I may have had a little too much LDS.)
I feel like you buried the lede there.
LDS = Latter Day Saints?

Insert delightful popcorn eating gif here.

I picked up my daughter at the airport. She’ll be here till Wednesday.
Hilton Head w/ daughters family, grand kids meeting up with my brother’s family and their grand kids
Rode rollercoasters with my daughter and her friends all day. Glad we did it Saturday instead of Sunday. Had perfect weather - 80ish degrees and a bit cloudy. They are closed Sunday because of the big storm.
Threw a birthday party for my son, had a friend of his sleep over two nights ago, and today I am having my day of rest and sewing.
I worked until almost midnight on Friday, which was irritating at the time, but I’ve been adopting the work late on Friday mentality to avoid having projects hanging over my head feeling on the weekends. Typically that means working until 5:30 or 6, not midnight, but I’m glad now that I did it.
No more Sunday scaries for me, so Sundays are actually enjoyable for the first time in my working career.
Friday night: hung out with Mini Me
Saturday morning: ex picked up Mini Me for vacation
Saturday night: went on a blind date (there will definitely not be a second date)
Sunday morning: tried out a different church… cautiously optimistic that I might want to make a change
Sunday afternoon/evening: I’m doing nothing and it’s everything I dreamed it would be

Ah, well… I was already not looking forward to it because we spoke on the phone Friday night and he seemed kind of conceited.
Then after I was in the car driving to meet him he pushed back the time that we would meet by 15 minutes, so I ended up getting there maybe 20 minutes early because I arrived 5 minutes before the original meeting time. He showed up about 5 minutes after the postponed meeting time so I’d been waiting (outside in the sun) for 25 minutes at that point.
I think he was annoyed that I didn’t want to meet him at his house and drive together, but, um, it’s the 21st century. I guess it would have been safe as he knows my coworker that set us up, but… I preferred to meet him at our destination and I don’t think that should be a problem.
But really… I think he wants a dumb blonde and that’s just not me.
And the final nail in the coffin is that he actually likes the Designated Hitter in the National League… total deal breaker.
