The Child was Jedi. Just being aware of the general timeline there weren’t a lot of possibilities. I would go so far as to say it wasn’t really much of a twist.

I assume it’s magnetism that keeps things floating like the stroller and speeders? But they also require propulsion.
I’m not exactly sure why they did that. Perhaps because the Jedi and the Mandalorians were enemies they wanted to make it have less of a “good vs evil” vibe than the original movies and set up that not even Jedis are perfect. (Which they’re not perfect in the original movies either, but close.)
I thought it was pretty good. I like that they brought Ali back and also HOW they re-imaged her breakup with Daniel. (Which I’m sure was necessary to get Elisabeth Shue back… since she was mad at the way they wrote her out of the sequel. Like… she expected to be written out of the sequel but was mad they trashed her character in the process.)
Had some surprises that I can’t mention until I learn how to spoiler. I don’t think it’s too shocking to reveal that they finally did manage to get Ali back, particularly given how Season 2 ended with the phone on the beach.
I will say I thought she’d be written into the plot in a different way and fear that my suspicion will come true in Season 4.

I was pretty surprised that they brought Chozen back, but I liked how he turned out to be a good guy in the end. Less surprised that they brought Kumiko back, but I hadn’t foreseen Daniel going to Okinawa. I figured he’d run into her in Tokyo. That maybe she’d been a big star there and stayed and was still living/teaching in Tokyo.
My husband instantaneously recognized the actress who played the little girl that Daniel rescued and figured out it was her before the show explained it to us. Which I thought was impressive.
Then again, he also knows the names, faces, and personalities of all the original Cobra Kais from the 80s. He’s obviously seen the movies a few more times than me!
I think Ali’s job is pediatric surgeon, so I assume that at some point she’s going to have to perform some incredibly tricky surgery on one of the kids (guessing Robby, but possibly Sam… Miguel possible but less likely as I hope he’s already had his tragedy). Something where she’s the only one who can do that type of surgery.
I figured that’s why she’d be coming back to the show in the first place. Was surprised it was as mundane as spending Christmas with her mother. I mean it fit and I loved how she explained her version of what went down with her & Daniel and Mr. Miyagi’s car back in 1984. Perfectly fits with the whole “two sides to every story” theme of the show. I just figured she’d have been called in due to her job.
Bingeing Superstore. Surprised I absolutely never see it get mentioned anywhere, considering all the love for Community and Parks & Rec.

One of my husband’s friends insisted he just had to watch Bridgerton. It’s just terrible, the most unwatchable crap ever, but he feels obligated to see it through because he recently told her that her favorite book was garbage, so he’s trying to find something positive to say about her other interests. I shall be sitting that one out.
We couldn’t get into it either. I do like period pieces, and I liked the cinematography (probably because I was drunk), and that it was very bright and pleasant to look at.
But when I sobered up by the end of episode 1 I was over it.
