What are you watching (bingeing) these days?

Yeah, that was a pretty good one!

Nit to pick re American Revolution:
Of all the talking heads, only the native, last name “bonaparte,” talks about people back then as “we.” To paraphrase Obama: you weren’t a part of that.

Started watching the remastered The Beatles Anthology on Disney+.

I love the series but is hard for me to be objective about anything to do with The Beatles as they were such a huge part of my teen years. The songs and story are very familiar so it is a nostalgia trip for me.

Loved Get Back as well when I watched it last year.

watched the new episodes of Stranger Things. Man, they really draw everything out.

Started the Mr Mercedes on netflix. interesting so far

9 day wait between the last and the next episode. Feels like a long time.

Fun fact - The guy playing the body that was the mayor, is the mayor.

My husband also knew that fact! I did not.

Son of a Cricth - guess we need to be quick as it leaves Netflix tomorrow.

There was a Black Friday sale on Disney+ for about $3 per month for the first year (cancelable at any time) so I signed up. My wife and I binged on Season 5 of Only Murders. It wasn’t great but there is something about the show that entices us back.

It’s like comfort food. The cast works well together and seem to be having fun.

Yes and it is nostalgic for me to see Martin Short in particular.

I finished Season 3 a week or two ago. Didn’t enjoy it as much as Season 2.

Currently watching The Pitt and absolutely loving it.

I love this show. The VOCM building in the show is about a mile from my old apartment. I live a few blocks away from the school.

ETA: if you have a VPN, you can watch it for free on CBC gem, just have to set your location to Canada.

The PJ’s
Everybody Hates Chris

Watching something called “Kloe”, wait “Kleo” on Netflix. German-made (British dubbing). First ep was alright. Very familiar vibe to “Killing Eve”: Young female assassin “unofficially” working for Stasi, gets imprisoned on made-up charges as she was witnessed by off-duty West German cop with her target then without her target, cuz he dead.
So, revenge spree!

Could that be “Kleo” instead? If so, I saw it. I found the story rather chaotic and not in a good way.

Probably!

Not exactly binging because they aren’t all released but caught up or close to caught up on

Welcome to Derry (HBO) - pennywise the early years? it’s been OK but seems a bit muddled.

Pluribus (Apple) - interesting premise about “alien invasion” not exactly sure where they are going with it after the last episode.

Palm Royale (Apple) - guess this is our change of pace show though I find the characters a bit of train wreck my wife wants to see where it goes but says she can only watch one episode at a time can’t binge it, not the best selling point for a show.

Stranger Things (Netflix) - have followed this one since the beginning though it’s a bit strange given the time frame that’s covered in the show and the obvious age change of the actors given how long the filming took for each season, that’s throwing me off a lot. But 1st 2 episodes were pretty good.

Wife is watching this. Seems a different version of the story from the book and two video versions, though many of the origin stuff is from the book.
Needed to add some DEI plot and characters, as well as some supernatural powers. Can’t wait to see who is gay in this one.

It’s been some time since I saw IT and IT, Part II and even longer since I’ve read the book. It seems from my recollection that they took some things out of the books but like you say have not remained 100% true to it and have added a fair amount that was never addressed by the book or earlier movies. I just wish it was a little more coherently done. They seem to have thrown in Stephen King characters and references just for the sake of doing so and not to really to advance the plot.

As I recall, the book has two interwoven elements: one is the story that happens in the 50’s and 80’s, but there are interludes which harken to times prior to that. Stuff found by the librarian who stayed in Derry in between the two time periods and had been looking stuff up.

Seems to me the characters do not line up. The military is brand new, I think. And the Native stuff is required for expanding the audience, I guess. “Reservation Dogs” had natives, so let’s add that as a critical plot.
