You’re thinking of Old Timers from when you were a kid. Old timers now were probably teenagers or early 20s when Westerns went out of fashion. More likely to have grown up with Elvis and the Beatles than Glen Miller and Frank Sinatra.
Before I read spoilers, I need to get caught up on “The Last of Us.” I have not started Season 2, as my wife won’t watch, so I have to watch after she goes to bed.
Again, if this has to go on for another four seasons, forget it.
To please the household, I’ve still got a hard drive of movies and some TV shows connected via a laptop running Kodi. I replaced the laptop and hard drive, and in “testing it” rewatched a bunch of Wonderfalls and Flight of the Conchords.
We started season 2, I won’t give any spoilers. But I thought it was always planned to be just a 2 season show. Now of course if it’s a huge money maker, maybe they keep it going. IDK
I enjoyed slow horses Season 1 even though I’m not generally into spy thrillers. Each season is only 6 episodes so pretty easy to get through.
Will wait till The Last of Us is completely out before starting.
Finally getting back into Fallout. Also watching Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches, Spirited, and Reacher season 2.
Took the weekend off and rewatched Bunheads. Had been looking for it for free on streaming and finally found it on Hulu. Also started High Potential on Hulu as well.
Aaargh! Squid game season 2 is actually split into 2 parts, even though the next bit is called season 3. Season 3 comes back in late June. If I’d known that I would held off until June to watch them back to back. Anyway, excellent so far.
Finally found someone who would let me borrow their AppleTV account so I could watch Severance. The premise is brilliant and the script is great. My wife finds it too “uncomfortable” though.
we are about to abandon six feet under. near the end of S2. so far, the only thing laudable from what i can see is a favorable portrayal of gay relationships as not any different from non-gay relationships. in 2001 era that was probably novel. but overall i don’t love the show and don’t feel compelled to continue
Death and satire are a tough pair to mix.
The idea was the show was about mortality, and consequently giving the watchers the incentive to self examine their lives and maximize the value of their day to day lives and choices.
I’ve said before, it’s not my idea of a show to binge watch. Getting multiple hours of this at once without a week’s worth of personal reflections in between episodes could be a real downer.
The show really finished strong. The final season was excellent - but it won’t make sense to just skip ahead I think.
The Pacific
Finishing up Dead to Me (Netflix)
Next up final season of The Lincoln Lawyer (Netflix)
We finally finished watching all 11 seasons of the documentary How The Universe Works on Max. Cool visuals and computer graphics.
Mark Twain Prize, given to Conan. On Netflix. Funny, as expected.
Finished the first season of “Matlock” the reboot with Kathy Bates, who carries the whole show with her acting, while the rest of the cast are stuck with stereotypical roles. Interesting enough cases in each episode.
I kept telling my wife, “If this season doesn’t end with Matlock and a lot of the main cast splitting off to create their own firm, I’ll be done with it.”
And, I’m done with it. Typical safe network drama for old people who can’t watch nudity or hear swear words. I guess there’s still an audience for that in The Bible Belt.
Your Honor
started Swedish Dicks. 3 episodes in and it is funny
In about halfway through A Man on the Inside (Netflix).
Good, but familiar pattern of tossing us suspects only to dismiss with new evidence, and it is predictable.
Ted Danson showing his range, from dumb jock bartender to retired nerdy college professor.
