What are you watching (bingeing) these days?

Finished Day of the Jackal on Peacock. Very good, follows some of the themes of the original movie, but set in current time, so DeGaulle was not the target. Found the use of cell phones hard to understand. He got a new one twice an episode but people could still contact him. Did he port his number to each burner?

I finished the third season of DeadWind (Finnish / Netflix). I think the writing got worse with each season, and they left some “loose ends” for another season.

Currently watching The Glory, which is a dark revenge fantasy (Korean / Netflix). Very hard to watch the flashback scenes where the heroine is abused by her classmates.

started British Baking Show, not really a binge, just when nothing else on

I watched a few episodes of High Potential. It … well … has potential, but the writing isn’t great, the way they maintain tension between the two main characters is annoying, and the family stuff mostly seems extraneous at this point. I was hoping it would improve, but I didn’t see any improvement across the first few episodes.

If you want to be impressed (perhaps just relatively) with the writing you could watch the dr odyssey episodes. Thats so bad i might contunie watching

Started watching Younger on Netflix. Sutton Foster and Hilary Duff are in it.

I started a rewatch a week ago. One of my favorites. Got sidetracked with A Main in the Middle with Ted Danson. Very well done.

is that A Man on the Inside? or another danson vehicle?

Finally some great acting, this time from a guest star, Jamie Lee Curtis, of course, in Episode 8. Her character, kooky and certifiable, comes in hot, but has to control herself for the situation. You can feel her crazy is about to come out at any time, but she somehow controls it.
In contrast to the prior and following episodes where I nearly fell asleep watching characters look at things or at each other with absolutely no expression at all. What are they supposed to be feeling? Who knows? No dialogue. Just looking at a plate of food. Lots of flashbacks for some reason, with no emotions, no dialogue.

I was incorrect, you are correct. A Man on the Inside. My deepest apologies. :disappointed_relieved:

I’m working through these, still on Season 2.

We’re a few episodes into Shogun. Was on the fence after the first episode but then it hooked me.

Crap, I keep forgetting to circle back. I watched two seasons years ago, at this point I’ll need to start the whole thing over. I’ll put that in the queue next, I’m re-watching The Vietnam War documentary now.

i need to get back and finish Vietnam doc. but really, I think i should start over. i’ll recall almost none of it if I jump back into #7.

we started S2 of Severance. Then I learned it wasn’t all dropped at once. I hate the waiting.

How graphic is that?

Just started watching Squid Game. I did not have a Netflix subscription for about 3 years.

It’s pretty graphic, my wife won’t watch it. A lot of gore and they don’t hold back much. And verbally, a lot of former soldiers tell their stories, and some of those hit hard.
