I recently finished Disenchantment on Netflix, def some weird parts but overall I enjoyed it.
Currently watching 3 animated series -
My Happy Marriage - Netfilx - enjoyable anime. Supposed Season 2 in the works
Skull Island - Netflix - kind of a teen Kong Island show. OK for what it is.
X-Men 97 - Disney+ - son was a huge fan of the original when it was in reruns. If you liked the original, youāll enjoy the continuation.
Also watching Constellation on Apple TV, seems a kind of schrodingerās astronaut. Iām enjoying it, wife if not, so I may just finish it on my own when sheās not around.
Currently watching Resident Alien, Loudermilk and Pine Gap on Netflix.
Started up Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Quick (22 minutes long) and quirky-funny-smart assy that I enjoy.
Any other fans of The Rookie? Weāve been recording and watching the current season and it seems like this season was poorly written. Is this ripple from the writers strike last year or has this series just run its course and facing non-renewal?
STBX and I tried to get into that when it was new and couldnāt. Both of us are fans of Nathan Fillion, but it seemed kind of forced.
It is basic network drama. No sex, no swearing, just enough violence to get a TV14 rating. Itās for Middle America. I watched a few seasons, and I am surprised it is still on. I liked having them patrolling all over LA as if the whole city is in their precinct, because Middle America doesnāt know any better. But I do.
I.
Do.
I vaguely recall you making that comment when it was new.
I probably did.
And Iām not even sure which comment you are referring to, but I probably made them all at one point or another.
Also, theyāll note a particular address that has no way of existing. The street exists, but the numbers on that street/avenue either arenāt as low as they state or not as high as they state. Because I know.
I.
Know.
Yeah, weāve watch most of it since it started whenever. This season the writing just seems exceptionally lazy. I was wondering if it was due to writers strike last year or they have just run out of ideas as many shows of this ilks eventually do.
Pretty much this. Writers (the good ones with options) leave, new ones (less experience) are hired. Like, every show ever. Writers are often in bubbles and never realize they are about to jump a shark.
It is why I tend to keep to limited series in which there is one set of story arcs over a short period of time. And that whole arc is approved before major money is invested.
Guy canāt be a rookie forever. Guy canāt be responsible for some rookieās life every season so a new one is hired for the next year.
Weāll probably finish the season then turn off the auto record of next season.
I think the comment was more about how long it took to get from A to B and thereās no way they were both in the same precinct.
Which is like Sleepless in Seattle when Tom Hanks takes that tiny little boat from Lake Union to Alki Beach and tosses the ball around with his son and then goes back. No mention of the locks in between. I mean, yes, itās theoretically possible to do that, but a pretty significant undertaking.
TIL!
Yeah, āThe Rookieā officers go into The Valley from āMid-Wilshireā far too often.
I watched it a bit years ago and recently re-started it. Some days you just want a solid sitcom so you can sit around and not think too hard.
3-Body Problem on Netflix is pretty good. Hopefully thereās a season 2.
Iām trying to get into The Regime. Kinda slow, but Iām a long time Kate Winslet fan so will give it more chances than it deserves.
Rewatching Silo since I quit halfway through the first time, so far so good.
Finished Constellation, not sure how I feel about the ending, and not sure if itāll even have a second season given how it ended.
We just finished this. If there is a season 2 Iāll probably watch but if there isnāt I canāt say Iāll miss it. Mostly it was just convoluted and weird.
Been watching each week. 4 episodes have aired. Very uneven, but it fits the story line perfectly.
Watched Silo, loved it. Ending leaves you wanting another season right away.
same.
You know, I see it differently. I viewed it as portraying people with either disabilities or different abilities as whole people, real characters who have actual personalities and are not defined or limited by their disability. I noticed this early on in Season 1 and it held up throughout.
Also watching The Bear on Disney+ / Hulu. Enjoyable. Mostly because I have a fantasy of starting a food truck / eventual restaurant, and Iām absorbed by watching the behind-the-scenes shows like this and Kitchen Nightmares and Bar Rescue.
