Today: Taken at the Flood. Had read it. Poirot is noticeably softer and less arrogant in this one.
The Fifth Season by Jemison? For book club. I have 10 days to finish. Ugh.
in the middle of two at the moment:
Illustrated A Brief History of Time by Hawking
The Grief Recovery Handbook by James & Friedman.
Not a fan? I have it in my queue but keep kicking it down the road.
It took me 3 weeks to get to the halfway point of Oathbringer and I still have over 600 page to go
hence the title
Rubbernecker by Belinda Bauer.
Also finished Virginia Woolfâs Room of Oneâs Own, Euripidesâ Suppliants and Ion, and Aristophanesâ The Acharnians. 45 works on the year to date, heh.
I have 3 Euripides plays and 16 Aristophanes + Menander plays remaining for the ancient Greeks (I may also look at picking up a collection of fragments of other works).
Cool story, bro.
Not at all. 1/3 in and just starting to be able to follow the storylines. I think there are 3. And the chapters are just numbered, so I never know which one is coming.
This is one I wouldnât finish if I werenât in charge of book club. (Plus I figure most folks finish my picks so I can finish theirs.)
It wasnât meâŚ
Iâd have capitalized the âBâ if it were you.
Just thinking (judging, if JFG has an opinion) that this is a better thread without the bragging about volume, and instead giving people some insight on what they recommend to the others.
You want actuaries to not talk about numbers?
A little expansion of our skill sets would be nice.
How many hours will that cost me?
I enjoyed that trilogy, though I can understand how it isnât for everyone.
Iâm about to start Clytemnestra by Costanza Casati for my bookclub.
Have you read other Virginia Woolf btw? I really like Lighthouse and Dalloway, but find every feminist thought she had was kind of obvious⌠thanks to 100 years of hindsight.
I started The Waves a couple days ago, and I recently picked up a big chunk of her bibliography
My wife already had a copy of Orlando, and I recently bought The Voyage Out, Night and Day, Jacobâs Room, Mrs Dalloway, and To the Lighthouse. I also picked up (on recommendation) Lolly Willowes by Sylvia Townsend Warner and Kate Chopinâs The Awakening.
