At present, the NFL playoff game is still planned to be held in LA Monday night . . . with a contingency to more it to State Farm stadium in AZ.
Like a good neighborā¦
Ironic since State Farm (I know, they arenāt alone) has cancelled many policies in the fire prone areas of CA.
Not cancelled per seā¦just not renewed. A bit like Mike McCarthy wasnāt fired from the cowboysā¦his contract was merely not renewedā¦potato, potato.
I think you can only non renew in CA if the insured lapses? Was state farm able to non renew policyholders who were keen to renew? Can check out but never leaveā¦
Not my area of expertise but I think insurance companies can issue a non-renewal notice as long as they do so at least 75 days before the renewal in CA.
That said, I think CA may also have just declared a 1 year moratorium on non-renewals after the recent fire disasters. So for a while it may be Hotel California.
Both are probably better topics for a different thread than the weatherā¦
You know more than I do. Iām just making it up as I go along.
Hereās a post I made a while back about them non renewing:
Mind you, many of the details about what that actually means in practice are beyond meā¦so I really shouldnāt be commenting in the first placeā¦I just canāt help myself sometimes.
If knowing what I was talking about was a requirement, Iād hardly ever post,
Read some info about this . . . an insurer in CA can issue a non-renew notice (has to be something like the 75 days before expiration as mentioned above), but if a total loss occurs before the end of the term, then there is an automatic renewal for that policy for two additional terms.
And as YankeeTripper posted, CA did put a moratorium on NEW non-renewal notices. So if an insurer has already sent the notification of non-renewal, unless a total loss occurs before the expiration date, then that policy will be non-renewed.
Makes sense. I must have gotten thinking it was so restrictive because of the temporary moratorium, the process described makes more sense.
