Would you call a hospital admin or health actuary with only a degree in biology a scientist? A title should reflect the job you do, not just the degree you earned.

I’m fine with a person doing research who calls themselves a scientist to reflect that calling.
And in some cases, very high powered researchers do not have phds. Freeman dyson, and jack horner come to mind.
The problem is that Ramaswamy is saying this for the prestige. But he has no degree. He has no accomplishments. And he does not seem to have the values of a scientist, which is to put truth first. If anything, he seems a con man.
I used to hate that RFK Jr. was running, but I’m warming up to him somewhat.
I mean he’s a crackpot who should never touch power.
But most polling shows he peels off more Republicans than Democrats, so speaking at CPAC will only serve that goal further. Go, you little astroturfed, dangerous weirdo, go!

I am getting the distinct feeling that this 2024 Presidential campaign will be the most polarised ever and that Trump will do all he can to burn it all down.
The world simply cannot afford another Trump presidency.

I’m hopeful that his multiple court cases will result in mandatory court appearances to the point he can’t effectively campaign. But I have no idea how much the courts will kowtow to Trump being “Oh I can’t be in court because I have a rally.” Hopefully there is no leniency, like (IIRC) when they tried to set their current case to be tried in 2025 or something.
If anything this will help him rally his base. He will go on and on about how the unfair courts are conducting the biggest witch-hunt since Salem etc etc.

He can effectively campaign from the courthouse steps. His multiple charges allow him to play the victim, which resonates with lots of people who feel the gov’t has too much power in their lives.

Perry Johnson is suspending (not ending! key distinction) his Presidential campaign. Apparently he entered the race back in March, who knew?

That ad ran during the Super Bowl here in Iowa.
I feel sorry for people who live in Iowa and watch TV and can’t skip commercials.
I guess it’s never occurred to me to record the Super Bowl and play it back later just so I can skip commercials. Must be the fact that I live in Iowa.
