He apparently likes to say it rhymes with cake:
It’s spelled “Vivek” – but is pronounced Viv-AKE. “Like cake,” he says. And if you are a Republican voter in an early primary state, you might want to start practicing how to say it …

Isn’t Trump ghosting the debate? I doubt it’ll get much viewership without him.
Ah, the 5th pronunciation of it on Google is that way. Seems to be a minority pronunciation.
Given his stance on drug decriminalization which is unpopular in the GOP, feels like something using “baked” or “wake and bake” has better potential.
Ramaswamy gets his wrists slapped by Eminem. He has a long way to go to match the number of artists who demanded Trump stop playing their songs. Of course, in Trump’s case, the lyrics were usually at odds with his stances.
Twitter loves Ramaswamy from what i have seen so far. Loss of Eminem hate.
The MAGA crew seems pretty pissed at musk at the same time for paying them crap while the desantis supporters are getting paid a lot more (like 50x) without good explanation. Even liberal accounts are doing better.
I’m not a Twitter user, but hasn’t it leaned right-wing since the Musk/X debacle? May just be my perception. I know the worst of the worst go to Truth Social but my understanding is that Musk has been boosting right-wing concepts, defending Trump from his search warrant, driving off businesses like NPR, etc. My understanding was Twitter leans right now, it’s just not Truth Social levels of crazy.
It definitely took a right turn when Musk took over, and it was feeling a bit trashy back when the Bud Light thing started, but seems like maybe it is balancing out a bit more recently. My guess is that Musk got a bit of a reality check on how fake right wing content spreads on the site compared to other content after retweeting several things that made him look like an idiot, so he has brought back some of the previous algorithms. Several advertisers also left, and at the end of the day, Musk still needs to run a business.
I’ll take bad political choices for 400 please:
Bad political choice? Have you missed the last 8 years of GOP politics?
I saw a Twitter video about the Axovant claims a few days ago. TLDR: he bought a failed alzheimers drug from GSK for 5m, claimed a phase 2 study that his mother (a doctor) ran showed promise, pumped up the company stock to make millions, then watched it all fall apart in months when phase three failed.
The key dishonest part being where he dumped stock before the phase 3 results came out, making $40 million.
[red]But that’s just being a smart businessman.[/red]
While this isn’t strictly election-related, I don’t think this stunt merits its own thread:
I’ll admit that it’s a stunt that amuses me…but this is one relatively mild example of why, when I mention my libertarian slant, I have to qualify that as “small ell libertarian”.
But not Trump???
nothing screams libertarian like recommending the govt taking guardianship of adults
Utah’s loss: Sen. Mitt Romney won't run for reelection
Too bad, because he has more integrity than most Congress Critters. But isn’t he getting pretty old? I had the sense that he’s about the same age as my parents (who are 76) so that’s an age when most folks are retired.
I realize it’s young by the standards of American politics, but in general that’s pretty old to be working full time.
Romney says it’s due to age - time for “new blood.” His wife has a longstanding health condition that made him reluctant to run for president the first time. I think that it dulls his enthusiasm for political battle.
I used to think I was a Libertarian, but I was just raised Republican and realized that gay people were okay and weed shouldn’t be illegal.
When I realized that most people aren’t content to “live and let live” and instead will trample the rights of people like LGBTQ, racial minorities, etc. I became liberal.
I’ve used the libertarian label less and less over recent years, as more people have shifted to adopting it as a way to justify or defend some pretty horrific views.
Too many of the “newcomers” miss that libertarianism isn’t simply “pro-guns, pro-weed, anti-taxes, say/do whatever the hell I want”. Libertarianism only works when people are decent to one another, when they behave rationally, and when they consider the future when making decisions.
