FGOTUS.
or, for New Yorkers, FUGOTABUTUS.
The question is what acronym will they use. Flotus works. FgotusâŠless so
I donât think what they say matter so much as how obnoxious is Trump and how well does Harris deal with it. I think if anything Trump and Vance are going to talk themselves out of jobs rather than Harris being stronger
All Harris/Walz have to do is basically what Biden did 4 years ago: not have any major gaffes, let Trump talk and say all his dumb shit and let Americans hear it. If anything, they need to call it out when it happens and spell out why itâs so stupid.
If Harris dusts Trump in the next debate, it wonât be all over but sheâll have to seriously fuck up down the stretch to make this close.
fGotus. The âfâ is silent.
I think youâre underestimating the foolishness of the American voting public.
!
considering all the crazy shit trump has done and said over the last 10 years, i honesty cant believe this race is even close. This tells me that itâs Trumpâs race to lose not the other way around.
Iâm not underestimating that 40-45% of voters will vote for a rotted turkey sandwich with an ISIS grill mark if itâs named Donald Trump, but itâs the small percentage of Republicans whoâve vowed they still wonât vote for a Democrat that need to be pushed off â⊠but Iâll hold my nose and vote for Trump yet againâ that need to be nudged off that position, even if they just get convinced to not vote for anyone for President.
I have not seen any evidence that this is true.
Vance and Trump continue to say outrageous things and it doesnât seem to hurt their base support. Their existing support will not disappear regardless of what they say or do. It is only that small swing vote that might be affected. This race is close.
Biden has been to church more than any president in 70 years.
However evangelicals now prefer adultery and pussy grabbing as the preferred path to righteousness
I wonder how JD Vance feels about the Surgeon-Generalâs recent health advisory on parenting?
Newsweek is a garbage news source, and the story started with a TikTok comment, but it is fairly easy to verify that Trump has had campaign rallies at the towns in the story, and that they all were indeed sundown towns
Both Presidential candidates are proposing no tax on tips. I think itâs a stupid idea, as why should 2 individuals with the same income in similar circumstances pay radically different tax rates. One thing I read that I canât substantiate: I saw a suggestion that the Trump proposal would include corporate bonuses in âtipsâ. If so, that would be egregiously subject to abuse. Itâs also the type of suggestion that would get enormous sums of money flowing to the candidate in pure self interest.
I hope this idea dies on the vine.
The NYT used to employ a public editor. That role was empowered to critically evaluate journalistic and editorial decision making by the organization. That role went out the window, as why should NYT worry about journalistic integrity when their competitors make more money from eyeballs when posting fake news?
Margaret Sullivan is a former public editor.
One of three stops Trump has recently made in my state was in a pretty small town that is known as the KKK Capital of the state. The actual KKK activity around there is muted now and most locals despise them, but itâs still known that way.
Other than 2 very large cities, thatâs where Trump chose to hold a rally.
I think that there is close to 0 chance that Trump is so in the logistics that he is choosing these spots, rather that there is at least 1 person on the campaign organizing it that thinks it is a good idea.
Isnât every small town across the midwest practically a sundown town? I canât find anything official on the town I grew up in, but it seems to fit the description. The town fought against a developer in recent years to bring a McDonalds in because of the âtraffic and congestionâ it would create. It is a pretty Trumpy place.
Nah, I reject that as a Midwesterner, though I do speak as a white person. Do they exist? Sure, to various degrees by state. But âevery small townâ is vastly overstated.
I agree that there is almost zero chance that the logistical team is deliberately looking for sundown towns to have rallies.
They are likely just looking for areas where their most fervent base might come out. Itâs not exactly a coincidence that there is overlap. Also, they are looking for cheap venues because facilities got stiffed for payment by Trump last go round. If they have to pony up cash up front they want low cost.
