United States Congressional & Gubernatorial 2022 elections

Most people are frustrated with current situation in US. It should be easy enough for the minority party to just point out all those frustrations and pose as the party of ‘grass is greener’. The same dumb trick worked great in 2010.

what the minority party should not do is remind people why they got kicked out of power in the first place.

Dems are doing a good job reminding people why they dont like GOP. But GOP should not also remind people why they hate GOP.

McConnell just came out and said our candidates suck.

this is just foolish leadership setting bad strategy.

You are missing the forest for the trees. It’s not that you traded an R for an R in a red state. It’s that your team is purging anybody who doesn’t fully buy onto and support the lies that come from their leader. She stood up for honesty, the rule of law, and American Democracy and your team shunned her completely. This should be more than a little troubling to everyone.

Oh, so you don’t mind Trump, you just want your team to win so whatever strategy gets you there is worth it?

Or maybe it’s people who have been misled to such an extreme degree by nonstop propaganda that they have started choosing progressively more and more insane people to elect.

Bullshit. The GOP has thrown out any screening. The DNC still screens their candidates and holds them at least somewhat accountable to their platform.

What is the GOP political platform now?

Why should they have a platform now? There is not a presidential election until 2024.

Yeah, I hate this “BOTHSIDES” kinda stuff. The GOP elected Trump after something like 20+ credible claims of sexual assault and then openly bragging about sexual assault on mic. The Dems forced out Al Franken for kissing a girl too intensely during a comedy bit.

They are not the same.

The fact that one major political party has issues is not an excuse to tolerate issues with the other major political party.

Their platform in 2020 was “Do what Trump says and make the liberals cry”

You should look up a video of the debates in WY. They are trading 1 R that is conservative and intelligent enough to get stuff done with 1 R that can barely string a coherent sentence together, but is willing to kowtow to Dear Leader.

It is definitely NOT immaterial.

Desires for fiscal responsibility and smaller government are basically the same as saying screw that let’s blow up the deficit as long as we can make up stories about a global sex cabal run by the illuminati. the latter is better for fundraising.

100%

I know people who are pretty close to the politics of WY . . . and this wasn’t the reason they voted for her opponent. Cheney stopped focusing on getting policies passed that benefitted the WY constituencies when she started devoting all of her time to keep one person out of national politics. (FTR, the people I know are not “election deniers” and do not condone what took place on 1/6/2023.)

The fact that Cheney is only tangentially a resident of WY put her on some pretty thin ice to start with. Hageman, on the other hand, grew up in WY.

So protecting American democracy and standing up for the rule of law don’t benefit WY? This is the justification the less dumb voters use to seem less like they are part of a culty political party. It’s not accurate. She voted in-line with trump 93% of the time and didn’t stop supporting the same policies for WY that she always had.

The fact that she got 3/4ths of the primary vote in 2020 makes me think this isn’t the slightest bit of an issue with voters in WY until she challenged Trump. It’s the only thing that changed. Everything else is just misdirection from reality.

Think about it. If their real issue with Cheney was that she stopped benefiting WY as much as they wanted, why would the WY Republican Party decide to no longer recognize her as a member of the party? I know why, because they told us. It was because she voted in favor of impeaching Trump.

For our country’s sake, I hope this is a typo and you meant 1/6/2021. I shudder to think if you have a time machine and/or inside knowledge of something major planned for 1/6/2023. :grimacing:

I remember reading a story about somebody who had formally searched the internet for a time traveler who might have accidentally let slip details about the future.

(Sadly?) they found no evidence of time travel.

If time travel is possible, I’m sure the very ethical users of such technology only use it to go back as far as the invention of time travel. It’s far too risky to use it to go back earlier than that.

Well [spoiler alert] Marty McFly managed.

yeah, but it took 1.21 Gigawatts of electricity

I believe it was actually 1.21 “jigawatts”.

Reminds me of this show:

Enjoyable enough. An interesting take on the genre.
