Trump's Goals

United States of America

R.I.P

Looks like one of the main campaign promises is already broken

On general principle I would have done what Putin did. He can’t appear to be controlled by a president-elect. What can Trump really do right now? Why did Trump say what he said other than inadequate understanding of the situation?

He can say that he has the concept of a plan for how to resolve Russia v Ukraine, and that the full plan will be along in a couple of weeks.

On CNBC this morning, as they continue to digest the implications of Trump’s victory for business/the markets there was a worthwhile comment to keep in mind: Trump says a lot of things; you can’t take him literally.

What can he do now beyond rhetoric? Nothing.
Why did he say that? To get elected, like the wall Mexico will pay for, his beautiful cheap Healthcare plan with fabulous benefits, or infrastructure funding.

I think his “24 hour peace plan” was probably telling Putin he can keep whatever parts of Ukraine he already has but no more. Putin doesn’t take orders from Trump though, he gives them. Plus if that’s really the extent of Trump’s plan it totally makes sense for Putin to grab even more territory right now.

Maybe Trump will put MTG in charge of NOAA. I think both the Jewish space lasers and the hurricane steering tools are under that department.

Tangent: a recent podcast from The Indicator titled “What’s a weather forecast worth?” is a good quick look into the rumblings from Project 2025 about disbanding NOAA. It’s a quick listen. It’s still stupid, but I at least understand the argument more.

Trump had an argument like this about the relationship between Amazon and the post office last time.

Kristi Noem as Homeland Security Secretary

Just lol

This is like the bonfire of the cranks and incompetents.

I feel for you guys in the US. Brexit election in 2019 was a lot like this. The only thing Trump cares about is total loyalty to him. The corruption and grifting is going to be off the scale.

If we stop tracking right now, we’d have very few hurricanes, actually.

Emphasized. I mean, we currently track hurricanes that land elsewhere. Hurricanes wouldn’t exist until they landed somewhere important.
Let’s not worry about shipping barges, either.

True, many hurricanes only exist beyond the environment.

governor of a non-border state that is not subject to natural disasters. lots of relevant experience it seems

If Armageddon is going to be a thing, this is one way to speed it up.

Will keep us safe from disobedient dogs.

No problem. Marco Rubio will fix it if he becomes Secretary of State.

Trump Draft Executive Order Would Create Board to Purge Generals (WSJ gift link)

Long quote

I think the people on here that said it won’t be so bad are in for a very rude shock.

This will be Trump unleashed.

He is going to destroy anything Biden-related and go after anybody who wronged him.

A quick search led me to this article. It provides some info on what the law allows for.
In short, a 3 or 4 star general only holds that rank when on an assignment that requires it. If the assignment ends, the rank goes back down to the previous grade (likely a 2 star general). The President can only fire a general during a time of war. However, as Commander-in-Chief, he can terminate an assignment, and cause a reduction in rank.

I think in conversational settings “removed from an assignment” is close enough to “fired” for the term to be used (especially if there is no new assignment made).
