Trump's Goals

He also said dropping NOAA. On the other hand, I’m guessing that’s “only” about $8 billion or so, but I’m extrapolating from an old number.

This is the other thing to think about. How long do the various people last? People got tired of working with him relatively frequently. Some people have been saying JD Vance will be the most powerful VP since Cheney. My impression is he’s already been mostly discarded in favour of RFK and Musk. Trump already said he doesn’t talk to him much.

ETA: I think Vance is too power hungry to quit the VP job, but I wonder if he gets given much to do.

JD Vance works for Peter Thiel. As long as Thiel wants him there he will stay no matter how Trump treats him.

Trump has named Stefanik as UN Ambassador.

It’s going to be fascinating watching the tech bros fight it out for control and influence. I’m hoping for trillions of dollars of wealth wasted and lost in that endeavor.

Well she won’t be able to blame Biden for Putin’s aggression any more. Hope she doesn’t forgot what she has stated previously:

While Stefanik went on to call Putin a “war criminal” and a “deranged thug,” the bulk of her statement was dedicated to excoriating Biden.

NOAA is definitely a waste of money. Trump will do the same job with a sharpie and a poster board, and only charge half of what NOAA costs.

They desire to seize control then have a ‘democracy’ between themselves.

One of the steps is ending birthright citizenship. They will use the cover of “fixing” immigration so they can get an amendment that legally places citizenship designation in the hands of the executive branch. Elon Musk then is legally allowed to be president and huge groups of people lose there right to vote.

I’m curious what they’ll do on the fisheries side.

The free market will take care of that.

I saw a suggestion of one of the agencies Musk might want to eliminate: NHTSA. He’s butted heads with them before.

I think Musk would be happy if his lawyers could simply write the regs. Self-driving comes to mind.

He has a president in his pocket. That is actually a very plausible thing.

Lee Zelden about to try what Neil Gorsuch’s mom failed at under Reagan. Total destruction of the EPA.

What’s the difference between a citizen and a civilian?

This is a let’s see how this works out issue.

Ex-Ohio House Speaker Larry Householder, who’s serving a 20-year prison sentence for overseeing the largest bribery scandal in Ohio history, is preparing to ask President-elect Donald Trump for clemency, according to his campaign’s attorney.

Householder, a Perry County Republican, is planning to submit an official pardon application to the U.S. Justice Department at some point closer to Trump’s inauguration on Jan. 20, 2025, according to the attorney, Scott Pullins.

“We will also be working to build support and communicate with the President and his team,” Pullins stated in a message. Pullins is not a member of Householder’s criminal defense team; rather, he’s advised Householder about legal and political matters over the years and represented him in some state elections cases.

why on earth would Trump pardon him? (i.e., what’s in it for Trump, MAGA, Republicans, etc)?

Householder still holds lots of power in Ohio Republican politics. A full pardon means he can run for office again. Also, it sends a great message to those Republicans that commit crimes.

I don’t think there is enough benefit for Trump in pardoning him. It is worth watching to see if it happens because the only reasons to do it are bad.

Which, it’s really the perfect landing spot for Rubio. He gets to feel like he has power for about 7 minutes, and will spend the rest of the time being supremely humiliated by everyone he’s asked to talk to.

And, being Marco Rubio, he’s going to be too stupid to ever notice.
