Trump Tariff Watch

I think so. They’ve been talking that on the submarine purchase and Saab has been offering that on the F-35s.

BBQ has become a pretty saturated market in recent years and pellet smokers have simplified this for home enthusiasts. Rising meat prices are going to be the death blow for poorly managed restaurants.

OTOH even vegans are eating barbecue, per Senate race

Some would allege that beef and BBQ are mutually exclusive (I know ppl who insist BBQ refers specifically to pulled/chopped pork as a dish, rather than a cooking method).

I grew up in Memphis, and therefore know that BBQ is pork, although other foods can be barbequed.

I don’t begrudge Texans their barbequed beef, and I’m partial to chicken prepared with a dry rub…and editing this comment, I’ve developed a craving for barbequed spaghetti.

It will slip through the grates!!!

Anyway, the process of “BBQ” is a waste of time unless cooking for about 20 people or so. Or, for yourself for 20 meals, which is more likely for the obsessed BBQ’er.

He is going to be deeply hated for that one.

I’m definitely not doing a full pork butt or brisket unless I am hosting a crowd. I will fire up the smoker for cooks though. I’m hosting this weekend so I’ll probably do a couple of chickens one day and a tri-tip or 2 the other.

I’m not obsessed with bbq but i have a pellet smoker and will often cook a weeks worth of protein on Sunday to use as a base for meals. Smoked boneless skinless chicken thighs and brats are two of my go-to’s. Chicken salad, fajitas (even with diced brats are good), wraps, etc. Super easy and tasty.

No contest on it still being delicious. I just enjoy stoking fights about BBQ definitions because it entertains me.

So we now have new tariffs incoming from the orange cheeto.

I have bolded the part that is once again laughable.

US trade officials proposed hitting Brazil with tariffs of 25 per cent, opened a probe into trade with Vietnam and unveiled proposals to impose duties of between 10 per cent and 12.5 per cent on more than 60 countries, including the EU, over forced labour laws.

Always found it curious that the US is so concerned about this in other countries given that many prisoners in the US work for little or no wages.

I find this ridiculous given the wide spread use of forced labour in the US which makes extensive use of private prisons.
