Trump Tariff Watch

I would love it if Canada aggressively pursued alternate markets for everything. The US needs to be embargoed by the world until we have a sane government again. Once an authoritarian government suppresses threats from within it will turn outward and begin seizing assets in other countries.

I’m kind of fascinated by where a lot of our produce is coming from. It’s definitely reasonably feasible to mostly boycott American produce.

Another large tariff for…pasta.

That :face_with_symbols_on_mouth:! The brand of decent gluten free pasta that I already have to pay through the nose for comes from Italy.

Winning!

And now we have a 25% tariff on trucks. This will hit Canada.

At this rate, US businesses are going to give up on any kind of forward planning and investment.

For the record, I encourage all firms to dump their cheap goods on me. I even go to Costco in the hopes of being dumped on.

Just wait until our Glorious Leader’s next dementia-driven temper-tantrum.

I was thinking, much easier to strong-arm domestic propaganda into domestic films.

So much for the UK’s trading advantage with the US.

Trump’s solution for North American-sourced critical minerals is to take equity stakes in the producers. Someone should tell him this looks like socialism.

The corporate State considers private enterprise in the field of production as the most effective and useful instrument in the interest of the nation. In view of this, it entrusts to private initiative the organization and conduct of production, but it keeps the right to control and to discipline it. For this purpose the Fascist State has created the Corporations which constitute the unity of the productive forces and represent their interests, in such a way as to prevent their becoming antagonistic and harmful to the nation.
