I saw a really insightful breakdown of the Kennedy Center focus. It does seem like an odd area for this administration to focus. However…
Trump was heavily encouraged to not attend the 2017 awards, specifically because the artists being awarded would boycott, in the wake of his “fine people on both sides” comments among other things.
Three of the five artists set to be honored had either expressed a specific intent to boycott the traditional White House reception before the event or were said to be considering it.
“The President and First Lady have decided not to participate in this year’s activities to allow the honorees to celebrate without any political distraction,” Sanders said.
It’s part of the “revenge tour”; anybody who wasn’t obsequious the first time around is being brought to heel.
But it wouldn’t look good to literally force people to perform for him. So as more and more cancel and make public statements… suddenly it’s necessary to renovate!
tRump deranges over a joke, threatens to sue because it wasn’t true?
Sure, don’t let the 1st Amendment stop him from using the US Government to retaliate against someone. Um, “National Security” or something. Dude needs a security blanket. Linus Van tRump.
The most charitable explanation is that he didn’t see the last second of the video with the offensive material. That raises a number of other concerning questions around attention span, or how seriously he actually takes his job, or why he spends so much of his time on social media.
If we were going to go with the charitable explanation, the “Truth” would have been taken down when the problematic scene was brought to his attention.

It took me a while to find it. He posted and re-posted many videos last night, highlighting just how disturbingly addicted he is to social media.
“You know she’s a young woman,” Trump said to the rest of the room before redirecting to Collins. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen you smile.”
He continued, saying that “I’ve known you for 10 years, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a smile on your face."
“Well I’m asking you about survivors of Jeffrey Epstein, Mr President,” Collins said.
Trump interrupted and spoke over her, saying he thinks the reason she doesn’t smile is because “you know you’re not telling the truth.”
Trump admitted that he hadn’t read through the files but said he was sure that their mention in the files was “fine” because otherwise there would have been “major headlines.” There were, in fact, major headlines about the individuals named in the files.
“I think it’s really time for the country to get onto something else, really,” Trump said.
I’m busy making dinner, but have the Superbowl on in the background. I’m thinking this halftime show is going to trigger Trump and a lot of conservatives.
