This hits close to home. Failing to recall a memory when you want it is different from not creating the memory at all.
I tell myself that when I’m looking for the car in a parking lot. Maybe I have trouble, but when I find it I think “of course, I parked next to this light pole”, or in this direction, or next to that pickup, or whatever, I just didn’t recall the memory quickly. So far, I haven’t had a case where I had no memory of any sort.
I’ve forgotten words before, seems pretty normal. But it’s absolutely hilarious when the leader of the free world that has repeatedly bragged about his own cognitive test results while ridiculing his predecessor’s age forgets the word Alzheimer’s. Or scary.

Fred Trump also lived for something like ~7-8 years post-Alzheimer’s diagnosis.

Trump today implied he’s going to make houses more affordable by driving down interest rates and making it illegal for corporation to buy homes while at the same time preserve wealth for existing home owners by making their houses worth more.
I’m beginning to think this Trump fellow doesn’t know much about economics.

Prior to my grandma’s dementia diagnosis, she described having a few events where she woke up with no memory of who she was or where she was, just sort of being “blank”.

Trump’s threats might be scarier if they weren’t so stupid:

Note the every previous renovation of the Kennedy Center was done with explicit Congressional action, and the most recent work was finished in 2019.

I assume that it’s been difficult to book artists there since the change in management. A 2-year renovation would likely last until the next change in management…so in that regard, it seems like appropriate timing.
And who knows; perhaps Congress might be able to chime in before any demo begins.

Congress already gave Trump the money:
Under Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” signed into law in July, the Kennedy Center will receive $257 million. That is six times what it normally gets from Congress annually.
