Random thought: If Canada did become a state, it’d kill the Alaska and New England cruise business unless the Jones Act were amended.
His absence of graciousness is also a consistent trait.
This isn’t a Trump darndest thing, but a response from Doug Ford:
I thought Doug Ford’s knowledge of the US would be sufficient for him to know that Minneapolis is not a state so I assume he is just trolling Trump by pretending to be ignorant of US geography.
I have no time for Doug Ford as his policies are a mess. However he is largely saying the right things on tariffs.
I was actually attributing that to speaking off the cuff, reaching out for something in the lower 48 to add to his counter-offer, and fumbling while speaking.
I’m not a Ford fan either, but I can appreciate a troll-ish response to Trump’s trolling…although I wish the Canadian response-trolling would up its game.
Next up: Renaming the Gulf of Mexico to be the Gulf of America, “because we do most of the work there.”
Edit for link:
My first thought was “How do you rename an international body of water?”
But, then I realized it is very easy. Just give Trump a sharpie.
This is pure speculation, but I can’t help posting.
Trump is reportedly upset that flags will be at half staff on inauguration day.
So, immediately after being sworn in, Trump reaches in his overcoat pocket, pulls out a folded sheet of paper, and hands it to an aide.
The paper is his first official order - raise the flags. He then pauses the ceremony as the order is transmitted to the proper people manning flags close to the podium. He waits and salutes as the flags are raised. Massive photo op. He has a photographer stationed to get a shot of Trump and the flag (maybe the one on top the capitol) in one frame.
Seems like a Trumpian thing to me. (I hope he doesn’t read the GoA forums.)
Next up: renaming Lake Ontario as Lake New York. He would at least leave Lake Superior, Lake Erie and Lake Michigan alone though.
If you want to keep your name you’ll just have to be assimilated
Now literally tilting at windmills
Have to put a stop to all that windmill cancer
Having lived in Cleveland for a while and knowing the old Lake Erie reputation (where, for example all the people I knew who grew up in Cleveland had heard from their mother as a child “If Johnny jumped in Lake Erie, would you, too?”), my first thought was to rename Lake Ontario to Lake New York and rename Lake Erie to Lake Ontario.
That’s a fairly big deal near me because we have one of the locations with the steadiest winds on the country and would be ideal place for wind turbines. The rich people don’t like the idea, and everyone expects Trump to kill it.
My response to everything now is just “Well then you shouldn’t have voted for him”
Maybe on Federal land, most(?) of America’s energy is produced on private land so would be out of his control
This windmill cancer is a national emergency. He will crack down on this happening anywhere to MAGA.
Not if the construction of said windmill farms is dependent on federal monies (or some form of federal tax incentives).
There’s an unused area of federal land near me that’s being cut for a solar field, and the local MAGAs are very upset about it because they were told to be.
It’s incredible to watch my MAGA family who will throw away even convenient and highly recyclable materials suddenly care deeply about the forest because the petroleum lobby told them they should.
Well that’s fair enough if we want to stop subsidizing something, but the notion that Trump can ban something like that is thankfully beyond the powers of a POTUS
I think you underestimate the government and Trump if you think they can’t stop wind power generation.
