“If there’s someone you can live without, then do so.
And if there’s someone you can just shove out, well do so…”
They could also hate each other, but support each other out of a sense of obligation
I hadn’t realized this.
English seems to have a somewhat impoverished language for describing love.
Maybe it shouldn’t be surprising. It comes from the language of a confederation of warlike chieftains. French was added to the mix by aristocratic conquerors. And modern english came about in a culture more concerned with sense data than senses.
And additionally, i suppose most of the talk of God happened in latin until relatively recently.
Interesting you bought scripture into it. When it discusses God’s love and also how Jesus told us to love others it uses the Greek word agape. This word can best be defined as unconditional compassion which is exactly what you are describing.
English is a bit sloppy with this word love. We use 1 word to define things the Greeks had at least 4 different words for. Phileo friendly love defined by spending time and sharing feelings with one another, Eros which is romantic lov le and typically involves physical intimacy and feelings of euphoria, and storge or familial love which is the way we love family and typically involves affection and compassion. I think most failed marriages are based on a foundation of Eros alone. That won’t get you through many trials and tribulations unfortunately.
does it have a special word for pizza?
i love pizza. So i will marry it
There should be a word for this. I think a special word for the affection I have for the smell you get walking into a pizzeria is in order too.
never really thought about it but in english, there is only one word for a strong positive emotion: love
but many for strong negative: hate, disgust, contempt, gross, creepy…

- adore
- admire
- appreciate
- delight
- desire
- exult
- fantasize
- glorify
- idolize

I like to call it Za.
The love is implied by how useful it is in scrabble.
Za is one of the most useful scrabble words, along with xi and qi.
