Today I learned

How far back? Like, back when Coca Cola had the extract of coca leaves?

Or, back when the company claimed that lithium was an ingredient?
wiki:

The drink did, initially, claim to contain lithium citrate, a mood-stabilizing drug.[1]: §2 It was one of a number of patent medicine products popular in the late-19th and early-20th centuries.[8] In 1936 the federal government forced the manufacturer to remove a number of health claims, and because “lithium was not an actual ingredient”, the name was changed to just “7 Up” in 1937.[1]: §2

Haha, I learned about it because I bought an old bottle with it listed. I guess I fell for their marketing hype, perhaps.

Yes. (Not going to link, but I’ve followed this/used this info for my job)

Gangster’s Paradise heavily sampled the Stevie Wonder song Pastime Paradise. How could I have not known this? Stevie Wonder is the man.

I believe that’s why it wasn’t eligible for the Academy Award when it came out for the movie Dangerous Minds.

How much distributed revenue an airline makes on a flight

Very interesting to see the structure

I wonder if that assumes a full flight? I’m guessing insurance is part of overhead?

something wrong with that chart. Doesn’t include crew/labor costs, which is the biggest cost after fuel. Third biggest cost is maintenance

but it is correct that cargo, ancillaries, and first class is where the profit is

There is a line for “Cabin Crew”.
Other staff like baggage handlers is probably included in the other categories.

Definitely so on intercontinental flights.

Would also like to see what relative % of the airplane’s seating space that each class takes up.

In Japan married people are required to have the same last name after marriage.
