There are a few of those as well around the world. I was thinking that it would be cool to do something like crop insurance for farmers in developing countries, but without cat modeling experience it would be a steep learning curve.
Corect. That would be cool.
They never needed to dilate if you are just getting a prescription for glasses. My childhood optometrist never did. You actually get a better prescription that way, because the eye isnât exactly the same shape when itâs pried all the way open as it is when you are driving, or seeing a movie, or reading a book. I used to preferentially go to optometrists for my corrective lens prescription because of that. Not because i hated being dilated but because i got better glasses that way.
But if they are doing an eye exam they need to dilate so they get a good view of the inside of the eye. Iâve had retina issues for a few years, and i get dilated every single time. And i hate it. But it really does give them a better view of my retina.
Itâs the itching sensation for the first few seconds and trying to drive home where everybodyâs headlights are bright and twinkly that bug the

I used to schedule my ophthalmologist visits for the winter and late in the day. That way, with dilated eyes, the twinkling of the headlights was so cool.
Ugh reading that gives me a headache.
Well I found it awesome. Now my ophthalmologist visits tend to be in the morning. I do use sunglasses on the way out as the sun is brutal.
My old optometrist always dilated after checking my prescription.
But multiple optometrists have since told me that with the new equipment itâs no longer necessary. If an optometrist is still dilating, theyâre using obsolete imaging equipment.
Ophthalmologists may indeed still need to dilate, by the way. Depending on what conditions theyâre treating or checking for.
But an optometrist giving you an annual exam to check your glasses / contacts prescription and check for any new issues that have cropped up since last year⌠they donât need to do that any more.
I couldnât pay the extra fee for retinal imaging (instead of dilation) fast enough.
my childhood optometrist never dilated my eyes. Maybe thatâs because kids donât need that sort of exam.
All you people with bad eyes.
I just get my glasses at the Dollar $tore.
Butcher shop closed for the weekend.
Grocery store did not have a whole chicken cut up for my chicken soup. Had to late stage butcher it myself.
Huh, i usually use just the carcass and scraps from a roast chicken. But i donât bother to cut it up. I need to cut up a turkey (it doesnât fit in the pot, otherwise) and if i want to use my instant pot, i need to cut up a duck a little. But i donât need to cut the chicken carcass.
(I will drop in the leg and thigh bones separately, as they were cut off when I served the roast.)
I raised turkeys some years ago, the biggest one was iirc 36lbs dressed. It wasnât even close to going in the roaster. My so basically just draped it over and crammed it in the oven.
Hmm, Iâve roasted a 24 pound turkey. But 36 pounds? I think Iâd cut it up, and cook a thigh, or half the breast, or the two wings. I donât think Iâd try to roast the whole damn thing.
A rabbi in my town has trouble pronouncing his Tâs. I know, I should really worry about more impordant things.
Losing twenty questions because the prompter doesnât know enough about the item he selected.
