Things that bother you more than they should

Try a skillet with a lid!

Eh, I finished off the pizza, and I’m not sure when there will be more to reheat (tonight’s will be all eaten, 'cause grown-ass sons). I’ll think about it next time, as I just bought a lid for my cast iron frying pan.

I’ll do microwave for a quick warmup, then toaster oven to finish. Works ok and is much quicker. I might have a higher tolerance for substandard crust though.

Comparisons of gas prices on November 2, 2020 and today.

I usually just go buy a whole new pizza instead of fussing with all this drama.

See I knew there was a catch

Someone calling lemonade a soft drink.

Soft drinks are usually carbonated but don’t have to be carbonated to qualify as a soft drink.

:iatp:

The term basically is about the absence of alcohol.

Of course, your own personal preferred definition may vary…

I am aware of this (now). I think I have always equated soft drink and soda (carbonated beverage) in my head.

People adding the phrase “Full Stop” at the end of whatever statement they are making, as if that gives the statement additional credibility.
Full Stop.

If used correctly it’s not that it gives it extra credibility. It’s that they’re pointing out that no additional qualifiers are needed for the statement to be true.

A: Saving Private Ryan is the best WWII movie that’s fictional.

B: No, Saving Private Ryan is the best movie, full stop.

(If Saving Private Ryan is the best movie of all then it of course it is also the best fictional movie, the best WWII movie, and the best fictional WWII movie.)

But I suppose if someone was misusing it then that would be pretty annoying.

I think it’s because in the UK a period is called a “full stop”, so it’s just like saying “Saving Private Ryan is the best movie, period”

I don’t mind British folks using the word “jab” to talk about getting shots, but I am highly annoyed when Americans use the term.

Full stop is the equivalence of someone saying /thread

It annoys me when people do that. It normally is not based on as good a conclusion as they think.

What’s that? /thread?

/thread

I think it has sort of morphed into this in the US because of Americans’ misunderstanding of the original usage

It’s stupid that a serving of Peeps is 3 bunnies when they come stuck together in fours.

Also, I miss Egghead.
