It still stays pretty hot though, right? Do you also have the cover? Is that heat-resistant?
One aspect of having a cleaner that people won’t tell you about is how difficult it is to get the house straitened up enough for them to come and clean on their schedule. When we had a cleaner we were constantly stuck calling them and postponing because we just didn’t have the house in good enough shape for them to come clean.
We have that problem already but because of kids, so I feel you.
Hahaha, kids is why we had that problem. I just fired the cleaner and now we do it ourselves again although less often than biweekly.
I’m almost sold on the lid, mostly for this reason, I’m not too keen on just walking away from a fire.
This is how they get you, selling you accessories after the fact!!!
Once the lid is on, it’s safe to leave it unattended. The heat will continue and transfer to the lid as well, but it should accelerate the cool down by reducing airflow. They recommend waiting until there are no flames left, just embers before putting on the lid; but I think that’s mostly to reduce discoloration of the lid and prevent some idiot from being burned when putting it on.
Video on “how to put out a fire in a solo stove” with all the accessories too…
Yes, every other Tuesday is definitely a scramble to get the laundry folded & put away and make sure all the dishes are in the dishwasher or washed, shoes put away, random papers picked up. Not tonight though… cleaning lady was here last week.
Today isn’t Tuesday, right? Now suddenly I’m questioning it.
That’s terribly counterintuitive, but I feel ya, dawg.
Oh, right! Sorry about that.
If not for regular cleaning people, my house would be a clutter disaster.
As it is, certain closets and drawers tend to be catch-alls and have to get cleaned out once in a while. All worth it though. I appreciate having the help.
My house cleaner cleans around the clutter. She’s awesome.
And as soon as my husband gets vaccinated we’ll have her back.
Well we have a clutter table that she leaves alone.
But I try to confine the clutter to that one place.
She doesn’t complain or anything though.
I’m gonna need a cleaning lady just for the damn kitten room now - there is litter EVERYWHERE. Litter boxes are not toys! Other kitten tails are not toys, especially when said kitten is pooping!! This is pure madness!!!
This is why I don’t have a cat (plus my wife is deathly allergic to them)
Litter boxes are apparently wrestling/mosh pits. Never knew. Rotten cats.
We did switch to pine pellets, after learning that kittens aren’t supposed to use clumping litter, and they seem to like playing in that less.
Didn’t you get the memo? Other kitten tails are the VERY BEST toys.
I have observed that one of our cats fully learned how to poop in a litter box at wherever cats learn these things. The other one kind of did. Our boy cat gets in, digs a little hole, poops in the hole, then covers it up. Our girl cat gets in the box, digs a little hole, poops somewhere else in the box, but not in the hole, then fills the hole back in. It’s really funny.
Has anyone here “drastically” changed the color of their house when repainting?
Our house is a rather non-descript yellow/beige-ish color. It’s painted bricks/blocks, which is a bummer, because if it wasn’t painted, I probably wouldn’t need to paint anything other than the slanted sections on the side (paneled up to the peak of the roof, I have no idea if there’s a name for this) and the eaves.
There’s two different styles/sizes of brick/block that meet halfway up our single level ranch-style house. Since we’re considering changing the color, we’re also considering making that dividing line the marker for a second color, and really making the house look different than it currently does.
If you’ve changed the color of your house, how jarring was it and how long did it take you to get used to it?
