I was at Costco this aft. There were paper towels and TP to be had!!! :paper
But no Corona
More bad news for auto production. China’s issues with electricity have caused them to cut back hard on the production of magnesium, used to alloy aluminum for cars (and other things). China was the world’s largest producer of magnesium, the US and others are trying to step up, but there isn’t enough capacity to meet demand.
I found a wall of TP at mine as well. Maybe three pallets of PTS.
As a Costco worker was putting out TP, we were taking them off the pallet. We got paper towels too!!!
I was getting close to buying some a couple weeks ago when I went to Costco, but they were out. The local grocery store had a 6 pack on sale so I panic bought it, but the rolls were much smaller so it felt disappointing. And since supplies seemed limited and I didn’t want to buy crappy local grocery store PTs, I panic bought some tonight from Costco. Now I have about ~22 rolls. 'Merica.
I haven’t noticed any shortages of TP or Coke Zero lately in my area
Nacho chips. Must be a chip thing
It’s nacho day to get nacho chips.
I’ve heard stories of this chip shortage.
LA and Long Beach ports start to fine shipping companies that leave their containers in port terminals too long:
so, i went to the piano store on saturday and told them i was thinking of exchanging said piano for a lesser version because the stand is too damn high. he looked at me like i was insane. i asked him if anyone else has ever complained about this. he said no, while still looking at me like i’m insane.
so, i’m gonna try and get used to it. i suspect i never will.
yamaha pianos in general have a stand for the music that is high. the cheaper clavinova is about an inch and a half lower, which is somewhat better, but in paying to ship it back and the fact that mine was on sale when i bought it means i’d be close to or at spending more money on a lower model just to have it be an inch and a half lower.
my prior clavinova was much lower, and my baldwin piano at my parents place also much lower. I looked at the regular yamaha uprights and the yamaha grands and many of them are even higher than mine. then they have some versions with the stand being awkwardly place lower, but too close to the keyboard. i don’t know why they don’t make pianos exactly how they were before.
The height of the piano is fixed, but your seated height isn’t.
It’s thinking outside the box like this that made me the success I am today.
so, you seriously think I didn’t consider this?
If I raise the seat, I won’t be able to reach the foot pedals. that’s kinda important in playing a piano.
NO I’m grinding your gears.
But seriously, you could put together something with a bit of height that handles only your chair and not your piano. That way you don’t have the problem of chair and your feet differential.
I Built a hardwood chair mat for my SO’s desk that raised her up by 3/4 of an inch. And it’s flooring hardwood so it looks nice. Wouldn’t take much to have something built that fixes the problem.
And given how annoying a height differential is like that, particularly on an activity you’re doing to enjoy, a couple hundred bucks seems like a reasonable solution.
Something like this, but not as ugly:
For the pedals, imma have to come over with a hammer and pry bar to fix that, I think.
Maybe just go with the new piano thing.
they have adjustable piano benches. it isn’t useful when you have to reach the pedals though. if there was no such thing as pedals i’d just get a new bench, but it’s not that simple.
i’m just going to try and get used to it.
@SpaceLobster : Keep the pry bar and the hammer handy, just in case!
