Injuries are a part of football every year and often play a factor in who moves on and who goes home but in 3 games this year the 49ers scored a total of 26 points against Seattle. To me it simply looked like Seattle was the better team. And some of the 49er players who have been injured this year are some what chronic injuries so it’s not like all of them were a surprise. Yeah the game snowballed on the 49ers, elimination games sometimes go that way.
The 49ers were never near completely healthy this year. The 1st 2 games of the year were the closest they got. By the time the offense started getting back the defense had 3 starters on IR for the rest of the season.
And 4 of the 5/teams with the fewest injuries are still playing so that kind of proves my point no?
Oh and one of those 4 just lost their starting QB.
And either were the Seahawks.
For example, the week 1 game where SF pulled off the upset in the last minutes, the Hawks were down 2 defensive starters and one other was playing through illness. The LT was also playing through an injury. Looking at the 49ers injury reports for that game, I didn’t see any noticeable absences, but i don’t know that roster as well.
As everyone points out, the best ability is availability, and that seems to be something lacking with the 49ers.
It sounded like one of your points was that Seattle was simply the better team.
Warner, Bosa, Kittle and Aiyuk are huge losses. Plus Purdy and Pearsall (their best remaining WR?) missed half the season. I think it’s pretty amazing how the 49ers made it as far as they did this season.
Other than Kittle I believe every one of those players has missed significant time do to injury in more than just this year. Rely on injury prone players, don’t complain about them in a sport where injuries are common and they turn up injured again.
but yes the 49ers would have been a better team had none of those players got injured this year.
Ifs and buts, something something…
This dude just quit on the 49ers/contract dispute. He hasn’t been on any injury designation in over a month.
Is this one of the players that 49ers players have been whining about with their “we are so injuried” crap?
If the Seahawks lose to the Rams it is because of Charbonnet, Holani, Cross and Darnold injuries?
Am i doing that right?
I think the Nix injury upped the NFC’s Superbowl chances.
No, you aren’t. Comparing Charbonnet, Holani and Cross to Warner, Bosa and Kittle is just laughable.
I’m not sure what you’re so upset about. The 49ers did an incredible job to make it this far given so many injuries to their stars. Nobody is taking anything away from the Seahawks (at least I’m not).
I don’t really think so. Stidham is a pretty good backup and many of the players have worked with him 2 years ago.
Denver’s strength is generally their Defense . . . as a Bronco fan, I’d rather face the Rams than the Seahawks in the SB.
Stidham is a 29 year old back up with 4 career starts and under 200 career passing attempts who hasn’t attempted an NFL pass in a game since 2023. He may do fine, but I don’t think there is much data on him to support him being a good back up.
Going to a friend’s for the games tomorrow. My brother doesn’t think he can handle the crowd or the razzing he might receive from our friends. He might also melt down if they are losing at any point. He will watch at home instead. Wuss.
Apparently, his life depends on the outcome. I’m going to see my friends. We are different, my brother and I.
What are “friends”???
I’m assuming it must be a reference to a 90’s sitcom
Nervous
Anxious
Glad I am not at the game. Lol.
So far so good.
Great first half. Both teams playing well.
