Sad thoughts

Middle school is a miserable place for most kids.
By me, in HS, the bully’s tend to stop bullying and just ignore
and the odd kids can usually find their own circle.

The issue with the “adults” is truly disturbing

Disturbing:

That is devastating, but not surprising in Oklahoma.

This sounds like my 30 year old son. But he did bike to school in a skirt, and assured me he felt safe at school.

He does seek out gender-neutral restrooms. Fortunately, Google has a lot of them. (He works at Google.) But lots of places don’t.

Best wishes.

Foster son’s dad no-showed to the visit today. Can’t get ahold of him. It’s very unlike him, and I’m a little worried about what might have happened (jail? OD? Worse?), and feel sad for FS.

I always thought of Ottawa as a very safe place to live and raise a family.

So this news makes me very sad. Its the worst mass shooting in Ottawa’s history going back many decades.

He was arrested, or possibly only detained, but he’s ok.

The article (now??) says it was not a shooting but committed with a “knife-like” edged weapon. They arrested and charged a 19YO who was living with them, with 6 counts of 1st degree murder and 1 count of attempted murder.

Thanks. It looks like they updated it.

I’m sad but also angry about this, that the bullies get to keep bullying and the school says, “Not our fault.”

A student at my son’s middle school died over spring break. The school sent a statement about it and emphasized privacy for the family and also some general statements about mental health. So it’s not difficult to guess the cause. It’s tragic to think that a 12 year old could feel that way. It’s a parent’s worst nightmare.

My son’s anxiety is getting worse. We’re going to add an SSRI to the mix, so he will now take two different medications for his conditions. One is for ADHD, and one is for anxiety, and since I believe his anxiety is fueling his tics (Tourette’s), we might be addressing that indirectly as well.

We have a meeting at the school today to discuss his 504 specifically with regards to his Tourette’s, so it’s good to have something to share about things we are looking into.

My son dropped and broke my new expensive sewing machine. At least I have a backup, I guess. Going to take it to a dealer next week and hopefully it can be fixed.

Co-worker of mine passed away after a battle with cancer.

She was only 38 (and had 2 kids)

Is it just me, or are an increasing amount of people in their 30s and 40s being hit with cancer? (Not sure about the US but thats been my observations in the UK)

This is the 2nd co-worker (in their 30s) who we have lost to cancer now.
