I’ve been in week 6 for three weeks now, with giving blood and then getting Covid. I did the same run today that I struggled through two weeks ago. I went slower, but it was definitely doable. Hoping to finally break into week 7 Monday. That’s where I start running 2.5 miles straight, on my way to a 5k. It feels very achievable now, if I can stay healthy. Just need to make the workouts a priority 3x a week.
I’ve switched over to the couch to 10K program, which has the same first 8 weeks, then builds on endurance for another 6 weeks. So I have 8 weeks to go, although I am certain it will take me longer than 8 weeks to complete it.
I have been breaking in all my new handbands, too.
Watch did not die tonight, nor did I. 3.12 miles all running avg 11:19 pace, then .56 run/walk avg 13:33 page. Concluded last week was not quite 3, but was indeed at least 2.95.
Ran 2.5 miles in 27:20 this morning. I didn’t hate it! Running in the morning is much better than later in the day. For one, an empty stomach is easier, a lot fewer cramps to deal with. Two, I’m not nearly as worn down.
Hard to believe that less than a month ago I wasn’t sure I could run a mile.
I haven’t run in over a week, due to sickness and no time. I really dislike the winter when I can’t just walk outside my house and start running. It’s so much effort to pack up and go to the gym.
Slowly progressing. The zero to 5K app I’m using is now up to 25 minutes of running, with 5 minutes of walking before and after. I’m still verrrrry slow. My son is going to be waiting around for me for a while after he finishes Saturday’s 5K. There are two 5Ks in May that I’ve been thinking about. I registered for the Running from Gluten one, but I figured I’d make sure I don’t die this weekend before deciding to sign up for the other, which is only a week before the one I registered for.
All the treadmills were taken when I wanted to run at the gym tonight. Will maybe run tomorrow morning. If I wake up early. Maybe.
Update: slept horribly, woke up about every hour or so. Finally got up and out the door about 6:45. Ran 2.7 miles in about 23min. Pretty quick for me lately. I think I just wanted to get it over with.
It’s the gym at UC Santa Barbara. Enrollment is pretty large and the students here are really into keeping in shape apparently. Plus it was the busiest time, right after dinner. I found an open stair climber and did that instead.
