Running thread

started today’s run despite the just watched weather update that showed showers possible.

50 FEET into the run, drops felt. huge drops. keep going. 100 yards into the run i am completely soaked. just kept going. that escalated quickly!

my dad used to say he liked running in the rain, because it was the real multitasking. You get your exercise, wash your clothes, and take a shower all at the same time!

yesterday took advantage of the huge drop in temps to try a track workout. wanted to run 400m repeats. third interval cut it to 200m. hamstring wasn’t loving the effort. so 2x400m followed by 7x200m. could have run faster I figure, but just getting faster than usual was the goal and it went ok. 400’s were in 85, 200’s were in 39-40 (one slower, one faster)

That is movin’!

today was on the trail I usually run on. ran a 200 and 4x 400. 200 in 47, 400s in 94/94/92/92. felt good about the turnover and wasn’t exerting too much to do that.

I ran 11.25km today, my second time ever doing more than 10km. Frustratingly, 11.25km translated to 6.99 miles

I wasn’t there, but I’m sure you ran just enough over 11.25km to reach 7.00 miles

In this household we round to 2 sig figs :face_with_steam_from_nose:

not sure if you’re poking fun or i’m just not on the inside joke, but 2 sig figs is still either 11.25 km or 6.99 miles.

I would use the label “significant digits” but would not think either term is the same as decimal places. 1125, 1.125, 11.25 or 112.5 each contain 4 significant digits.

Ran a Half Marathon this weekend in Troy, OH with @Bro
1:50:34 (13.05 miles)

Miles 1-11 were in the shade, flat, and no wind. Temps were also favorable throughout.

My time was 2:32:xx. About 3 minutes slower than my target of 2:30; I attribute that to the 3-minute porta-potty break about 2.5 miles in.

I most appreciate runs like this for the scenery: long legs, tight buns, and flat abs.

And the women… They’re even better!

Nice times!
I’ve run a bunch of halves with a buddy. He cracks 2 hours. I try and crack 3. End result, he’s like Yayyyyyy! Finished the half!!! Then he has to sit and wait at the finish line for an hour until I stagger across lol.

12 years ago I was also cracking 2 hours. Best ever was right around @T-roy 's time. But I stopped running long (> 5 miles) for about a decade due to life stuff; got a little heavier and older, changed my gait and the result is I am now 2 minutes slower per mile than I still see myself in my mind.
