good point. Nobody wants to be that guy.
I have been doing this experiment where Iâm trying every treadmill speed between 6.7 mph which I think is around threshold for me and below to find out wherever it is my upper zone 2 boundary is. That way I can build a heart rate profile of sorts. Today I ran at 5.4 mph for an hour and still I averaged around 148 bpm. Maybe around 144-146 bpm is where I should aim.
Based on my measurements I for sure can beat my 10k PR, I just havenât set aside a session to do it yet.
when i run on a dreadmill, i move the speeds around like every minute or 2. start at âeasyâ and increase every minute until i am at a certain speed/effort, then every 2 minutes to another plateau, thenâŚusually by then I am more than half done and I start peeling back a couple minutes at a time until Im done.
feb coming to a close. very consistent running this month. and also been riding an exercise bike consistently too. not running anything fast (like intervals) but trying to establish a consistent base of effort.
goal for the month (feb and march, each) was 100 miles run and 750 minutes of riding/other exercise. will beat that for feb.
Alright, date is set, 3/12 for mile all out (actually 1600 meters for those of us who are both pedants and number nerds).
Ran 12x400 yesterday, with 200 jogging recovery. Idea was first 8 at 5k pace and last 4 at goal mile pace.
First 8 all in 1:35-1:38 (which I donât think I could actually hold for a 5K).
Last 4 were: 1:28, 1:30, 1:31, 1:30.
Think it will be close.
goal to break 6min?
Yes, that is what I am hoping for.
cool. should be close! anyone there to assist or yell while you do it or is this fully solo?
The organizer usually finds folks to help pace (or at least run with me), and she usually yells herself. As the group gets older, fewer runners around who can comfortably run <6 min, so may be different folks pacing for different laps.
Inspired by @procrastinator i did my first track workout in forever.
8x200. 200 jog between. 600m jog btw #4 and #5.
45/46/45/44/44/43/42/41
I have not yet cramped up butâŚit could happen. Was not easy but was in control for the most part.
So far
Nice, I like the negative splits.
The early onesâŚi had no reference at all for the pace! Its been a while
And a misspelling!
Hey, it used to be women at the Olympics could only run up to 3K, so 5K is progress!
And my axe!
I know I mentioned zone 2 running but have any of you tried doing zone 1 running?
Is it even possible? Like keeping your heart rate below 120 while running.
How would that be beneficial? I thought that the point of zone 2 workouts is that the HR is elevated enough to develop aerobic capacity while not overly taxing the body or engaging your anaerobic systems. Staying in zone 1 wouldnât help with that.
