They should keep that cat OUTSIDE Russian high rises it might save lives when someone lands on it.
RIP Nathalie Dupree
She was one of the TV chefs back in the day before such shows started to proliferate. I met her once at a dinner party.
RIP Bob Uecker
I grew up listening to him as the MKE Brewers radio host, actor, I would say comedian, and all-around great guy. I got to shake his hand once while hanging out at the âThird Worldâ County Stadium entrance with some friends back in the day (early 80s). I had a baseball glove and a pen to get anyoneâs autograph. We did this often and made deals with some players for autographs. For example, if I got an A in history class, Cecil Cooper would sign all my baseball cards for him and give me a game ball. Yes, I brought report cards with me and got some stuff. A friend of mine has a room close to a 10x10 in storage crates filled with memorabilia and autographs from this era. I wasnât as aggressive as he was.
Anyway, I didnât ask Uecker for his or Yountâs autograph; it was the last time I decided to ask for anyoneâs autograph. I saw just a swarm of people trying to get them in an out-of-control manner. That turned me off from ever approaching somebody for an autograph.
we never get the close ones.
RIP David Lynch
Absolutely loved most of his stuff. Watching his movies brings you out of reality just a little bit and leaves your head spinning in the most delightful way.
Plan on watching Lost Highway soon. Havenât seen it in years but I feel like it has stuck with me all this time. I remember when it came out I spent half a day hanging out the timeline in that movie with my roommate and I think we had it diagrammed on a whiteboard at one point. Pretty sure we nailed it, but now I donât recall if it actually made sense.
Jaspbrother was really into Twin Peaks back in the day.
Last member of one of my all-time favourite bands.
RIP Garth.

Who knew Dylan would outlive them all?
RIP
Garth Hudson born in 1937 was the oldest of the original Band members and lived the longest. Dylan was born in 1941, the 5 original Band members were all between 1937 and 1943 so they were all pretty close in age and Iâd guess all lived kind of similar lifestyles.
Yeah I think Robbie Robertson just died about a year ago iirc.
An American friend of mine knew The Band members well during their Big Pink days as his then French girlfriend (and now his wife) was the nanny for the Roberstons. (He met Dylan and Lennon and the many other folks who visited Big Pink: lucky guy).
According to him, Garth and Robbie led relatively sedate lives but the other Band members had a crazy lifestyle. Albert Grossman offered my friend a job with The Band to improve the odds the Robertsons could retain his wife as their nanny after he married her but my friend was aghast at the lifestyle he would be surrounded by if he travelled with The Band (and this is a guy who had just previously been in special ops in Vietnam). He declined Grossmanâs offer and he and his wife moved to Vancouver instead. Sadly two of The Band membersâ lifestyles killed them and Levon Helm also died young.
RIP Marianne. Her As Tears Go By was my favourite of all The Stonesâ songs: such a beautiful melody.
RIP, Dick Button
He was a nice guy. He lived in our town, and let our 4H club use his farm â Ice Pond Farm.
unfortunately my best memory of him was his getting badly beat up - I believe Central Park and I believe Gay bashing, but going from memory
Here is a piece about the farm where they hosted 4H, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, etc.:
https://news.halstonmedia.com/sections/green/articles/organic-farmer-digs-growth-on-ice-pond-farm
and more:
Yes, it was Central Park and the victims were random⌠not necessarily gay. It took place in the Ramble, which had a reputation for being a gay hang out spot so if you were in the Ramble the perpetrators assumed you were gay.
(To be clear, Dick Button WAS gay, but I believe not all of the victims were gay, or at least not openly gay.)
RIP Dick Button⌠I greatly enjoyed your commentary.
BTW, Dick Button was known for being the first figure skater to land a double axel. Ilia Malinin now lands quadruple axels. (The axel is the hardest jump because you take off facing forwards and do an extra half rotation. So a double axel is really 2.5 rotations whereas a double anything else is only 2 rotations.) He is also the first skater to land any triple jump.
It was Dick Button that really pushed the athleticism and the sport angle rather than just âskating prettyâ.
