RIP The Aga Khan

While not a national celebrity, she was a strong local fixture until she needed to move into assisted living.

My grandmother passed away (peacefully in her sleep) last Friday. I was fortunate to be able to see her the day before (I travelled out that way to see her one last time).

My only knowledge of the Aga Khan is in this song

That was a great song.

My knowledge of the Aga Khan and his work was primarily through the various folks from the Ismaili community that I worked with over the years. Incredibly talented folks: many worked part time for the Aga Khan Foundation in addition to their regular work.

Meh. Nocilla (a product of Spain) is better. shrug No palm oil, and there’s a dark chocolate version (which is amazing when Nilla Wafers are dipped in it).

in college, my son worked at menards. one day working checkout, they had a display at the register for on sale nutella (and that’s before the 11% rebate!!!)

a dad rolls through with a 4 or 5 yr old kid. kid sees it, it just looks like something that’s delicious, and excitedly asks “dad, look at that! can we get some?”

dad says “no. we tried that once and you didn’t like it.” dad then makes eye contact with my son and gives a HUGE grimace and eye roll. but the child accepted the excuse.

my son started sifting through memories where he was denied awesome stuff as a kid…

And that’s when the kid realized his dad could no longer be trusted to tell the truth. He played it cool, so that his father thought he had gotten away with it “One day” the kid thought to himself, “I will use this to my advantage. One day…..Bwahaha!”

Wait, there exist people who like Nutella? Like… for real LIKE it?!??

The stuff that’s not really peanut butter but not really chocolate either? That stuff?

Even my daughter has figured out that this is what preschool teachers give for a snack that meets nutritional requirements while trying to pass it off to kids as a “treat”.

Kind of like an oatmeal raisin cookie masquerading as chocolate chip, or frozen yogurt fooling you into thinking it’s ice cream.

I’ll keep an eye out for Nocilla: sounds interesting!!

I saw a Bonne Maman hazelnut spread at No Frills, but it struck me as pricey.

That’s why I tell alla youze to be vigilant for this scourge!!!

Right?!?! So what’s this about a father saving his son from Nutella implied to be a liar? Sounds like a HERO to me!

Very popular in Europe. Then again, I don’t see how anyone could like peanut butter. Vegemite is the way to go.

We’ve found Nocilla at World Market, but I think you can get at least the regular milk chocolate version on Amazon as well.

Amazon has a Kit Kat spread!!! Sadly, it’s a 2 kg bucket.

I’m going to look for Nocilla in my local Asian/halal stores: they tend to have a more international selection of goods.
